Hi all, did an exterior and interior facelift for my 2016 L494 but many posted exterior before so I go with interior. Basically I change the factory screen to android, aircon panel to the lcd version with terrain mode, change out to 2018 steering with the new controller as well as all the window switches. Lastly as my car has the miserable factory ambient light, I add on other ambient lights to the car and control it via the screen. Oh ya. i also change the digital instrument display.
Here goes.

Looks really good! I have a (new-to-me) 2015 RRS Autobiography and would like to make some improvements, notably upgrading the steering wheel controls to the newer touch capacitive, and I find the interior ambient lights are really muted and only really seem to be on when it's not driving (parked gear only)?

That said, I have a question for you about the the digital climate climate screen upgrade: Several threads have mentioned that it's longer and at an angle when installed that hits the gear shift while in park – is that true in your experience? (Or maybe that's just 2015 vs 2016 models?)

There are two aftermarket screens one larger than the other. The larger one is IMO the nice one, however it does touch the panel dial when putting the car in reverse. I've attached a few photos. The first 4 are the 10" screen, take a look at the shifter base you can see the smaller screen sits further back. Also the on-screen fan controls are different between the two.

Hey thanks for the detailed reply and pictures - very helpful.

Might you happen to know the measurements (or model number to search for) for the shorter/smaller one? Assuming that's the 10" unit and the larger/longer one is the version that hits the gear shift when in reverse? Want to make sure I'm understanding correctly!

i didn't find any part numbers, remember this is from china. there are a few ways to distinguish between the two, 1) size 2) mounts 3) dials and fan control. the first pic is the 10" unit note the side mounts and the fan is controlled by the right dial. The 2nd pic is the smaller unit, diff mount, fan speed is via touch screen in the center press + or -. To me that's a pain when i'm driving. I've seen both styles on ebay which will ship from China or you can go to Aliexpress and shop them there. just make sure the seller sends you a picture of the unit so you can be positive there sending the right unit. you can get these with our without CD support. if you need more info let me know.

10" pros: nice big screen, dial feel nice, easier interface.
con: shifter will slightly touch left dial when pushing into reverse.

Smaller unit:
pro: fits nicely into dash.
con: outdated interface, dials don't feel as nice.

of course these are my opinions.

Hello, I do realize I am a year late to this thread, but does anybody know where I can get the ambient lighting kit? I have a 2020 and 2017 RRS with ambient lighting everywhere, in the center console (there’s a strip inside the metallish part that runs along the sides of the console, footwells, inside the door pockets, and I want to fit the same ambient lighting, at least as close as possible to my 2017 RRS. I know my 2017 has very faint lighting limited to just the center console, but I want to fit some in the footwells and do it as close to the facelift version as possible. Does this kit come with footwell lights (front and back), and door panel lights? Also do I need to replace my lighting module or do any coding or is it as simple as soldering wires together and plugging things in?
