Just fitted a new steering box from Island to my 2000 Thor.

I now have the steering the wrong way ie turn left wheels are turning right.

I can't think what I have done wrong as, I believe the box can only go one way.

Any ideas?

photos before help a lot to determine correct orientation but what has been done is done.... sounds to me as if a LHD box has been supplied - IIRC to make a Reliant Scimitar LHD it's fitted with an Austin Maxi rack upside down......................... do you have the rack still that's been replaced to compare? does sound like a journey that will run for a few days - hope you get it sorted quickly

What the?!?

I think that's definitely a take it off and send it back job... how on earth could they get that so wrong in manufacturing?!? I, also can't see anything wrong with the installation...

An issue that I haven't read about before on the forum!!

I have spoken to Island and they are sending a new one out. They agree it can't be put on the wrong way. So must be something internal.

They seemed quite shocked, so I would guess it doesn't happen that often.

At least it will be a lot quicker doing the job a second time around.

A bit of an update.

Removed the old steering box today and tested it on the bench and yes it was going the wrong way.

Replaced with new box and it drives great :dance:At least it didn't take me as long today to replace.

Suppose the moral of the story is......check the steering box before putting it in the car.

Thanks for your help.
