Hey guys I had to do a quick and easy mend on the hood latch sensor so I shot a simple video. Hope this helps :D

FYI, you don't need to replace it guys. It's a simple spring that gets pressed down when the hood closes to press a button that closes the circuit telling the ECU that the hood is closed. Just clean it and pop it back in.

Good question. I parked my car I. The garage so I would t have to lock it but yes the alarm would have gone off if I had left the sensor broken

Totally agree Arby's but if you take a REAL close look at the sensor it is a round stainless steel spring that when compressed it triggers for lack of a better word, a "button" which when pressed it tells the car that the hood is closed. It's such a simple device and Arby, I have a feeling you may not have cleaned the button the spring presses, well enough. I hope you kept it as a back up.
