Mine is not a soft dash, but my broken CL control unit rests against the gearbox hump on the passenger side, not as close to the door as that picture indicates. Maybe different for the soft dash.

 

On my 93 RRC, I had to replace mine - the old one would "go nuts" when it got humid and would lock/unlock randomly and for no reason at all…..bought a used on off Ebay for $35 bucks as I recall - it was located to the left of the steering column, kinda high up in that space behind the fascia trim. Once I removed that trim face plate, I was able to locate it easily - it's not a small box - measures roughly 4" x 2.5" more or less. Not sure where the heck they put it on the 95……..good luck.

 

Thanks guys, spending next week working on it so will have a look in the places you suggest - doing some foot well repairs so will be taking various bits of trim out. Hopefully I can find it!
