Not much guys on the l405 forum are into power modding. See more guys here

looking to do velocity ap tune and the supercharger idler pulley. Not the full pulley but the small one. Maybe some k&n filters?

I’ve also seen velocity selling their catless downpipes for this motor?

just general question on how many of you guys have tuned your 5.0 and how long/any long term issues?

I plan on keeping my truck for a while and it has a full warranty

I’ve seen some crazy mods on these motors on the jaguar forum for the f type.

I’d stick to the 605hp tune max.. there’s a reason JLR hasn’t released anything more than 600.

I loved mine tuned. It whooped a turbo 4.6 Mustang from 50-140.

I raced a 6.4 Challenger scat pack, on first hit I got him barely, second time he put a car length on me.

Sounded great with a muffler delete as well.

I don’t condone street racing on American roads. We took it to Mexico and did a top of 55MPH. (;

Can you tell me more about this "Muffler Delete" please? Is it possible to do one without installing a 93 Octane Tune? Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys. I’ve done the resonator delete and it sounds great with minimal drone.

nobody has done the shorter pulley? Apparently the install is diy easy

its always fun to go down to Mexico and have some friendly fun ?

Velocity AP tune here, and Quiksilver exhaust. No issues. Noticeable difference accelerating from a stop or getting onto the interstate. I like the fact I have the module and my original program so I can flash it back to stock if it needs to go back to dealer for anything.

The dealer will know if it's been flashed recently according to an EcoBoost Tech on the Explorer I just traded in. He admitted to me that he had no idea I had my Sport with the 93Octane tune when it went in for a new timing chain. He said how they know when something has been tuned is because when they hook up the OBDII port to their laptops it will show how many start ups it's had since the computer/memory has been flashed. If it's been hundreds of start ups no speculation. Worse case is they figure a new battery was needed and installed. However, "If I see the vehicle has less than 5 start-ups and/to operating temperature cycles... that is when we are (supposed to) start looking and asking questions when in warranty." His words, not mine, honest! This Mechanic is the Lead EcoBoost Tech at a local Ford Dealership in North Atlanta... he was/is is a cool guy that understands guys want to tune and get the most out of their engine/cars. I was out of warranty anyways so I admitted to them I was tuned for the last 30K miles. It was then he said he couldn't tell just by hooking it up to their Diagnostic Software. It's the start-ups and up to normal operating temp cycles that triggers those pesky warranty questions he said. Just something to take into consideration, may or may not apply to LR/RR so take this for what it's worth. I personally think you should be able to reasonably tune anything and still be under warranty. Ford, not so much!

Tuned mine with velocity for the past few years. Always flash back about a week prior to going to dealer to allow the check engine light to wash out (takes five car starts to do so). They have never questioned. Have extended warranty still. No issues from tune.

This is basically what the EcoBoost Tech said to me: "Flash it about 10 days before going back to the dealer and drive it daily and they/we will Never Know; unless you tell us!" I'm pretty sure they can tell the last 25 start up/operating temps he said. Beyond that they'll never know. I thanked him for his insight. Ford owned JLR for a good while so their tech/repair protocols are probably still similar. I'm glad I let the 3.5L bi-turbo Ford Explorer go and am Blessed into a clean, well maintained RRS Supercharged 5.0L. The 3.5 TT Ford motor can never be as juiced up as this 5.0 SC is/can!

It is not a warranty issue flashing back to the original program for dealer visits. I am out of warranty. I recall VelocityAP instructions - there was a remote chance it could screw things up if the dealer flashed or update anything on top of your tune.

I agree with you to a certain extent on "Flashing Alone" isn't a warranty problem... But the Dealership/JLR seeing that it's been flashed recently makes for "suspect" questions and probing that "can" cause warranty issues. I'm used to dealing with Ford and Jeep the last 20+ years. Some of those "B-hole" dealerships cream at the thought of voiding your warranty, no exaggeration. Certain managers at those dealerships finding out you've ran a "Tune", any "Tune" at all and they'll flag your VIN number and your warranty is toasted. At least anything warranty related to the drive train that is. Ask me how I know... It cost me a LOT of money on a past vehicle.

Some dealerships and Tech's are "Tune" friendly. Nalley Ford in North Atlanta is one of those. Shottenkirk Jeep in Canton/North Atlanta certainly is NOT... It seems Jaguar-Range Rover is more open minded about "Tune's"... at least they are about certain tunes on the AJ-V8 Supercharged engines at least, thankfully. You have to careful brother...

The F-Type crowd does far more with the S/C 5.0 than any of the Range Rover owners do. I joined over there just to follow their progress. As JLR is so small 99% of the parts are interchangeable.
Even with that there is far less available to do with these compared to the German makes.

I have the tune already and the crank pulley is going on Saturday. The "smaller pulley" for the supercharger is difficult to install if you don't have the supercharger pulley tool and only provides @1.5 psi increase. The crank pulley they sell looks just like the stock pulley if that is what you are worried about and provides @3.5 psi increase while keeping the blower just under its maximum rated rpm of 18000. For any real power beyond that you need to upgrade the supercharger to a TVS2300 or TVS2650. There are no current kits for a supercharger upgrade, AP Velocity keeps dropping hints but no real info on it.

Beyond the tune and pulley there isn't much and the cost vs gains are very poor if at all. I keep looking at their 200 cell cats but there is nothing anywhere showing gains for it.

You can have the blower ported, it will give it more psi, it also lowers temps coming out of SC about 20*, both things improve power.
Larger intercooler is also another improvement you can do, especially when running both pulleys and in a warm climate. These trucks have some heat soak in the summer and timing advance retards which is loss of HP. Ask your tuner about this or you can read up on it on forums, lots of info on the web about it. There are very reputable people that provide SC service.
I have new SC pulley[SS][Adds 1.5psi] that I'm trying to sell in parts section, PM for good deal.
