SOS Limited Functionality

Hi there. I am receiving an "SOS Limited Functionality" light. I need to try and replace the backup battery. I saw a prior post, but need more detailed info. Can anyone explain exactly where the TCU unit is located on a 2018 RR Sport HSE Dynamic? I have heard it may be in several different locations, but I have not spotted it yet, even though I removed both the trunk side panels. I think it may be tucked in the left rear (driver's side) panel between the back seat and trunk, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions and/or helpful pictures? Thanks.

The TCU on my 2015 was beneath the steering column. It’s not mentioned at all in the widely circulated 2014 version of the service manual. Someone sent me the attached section about that system.

I believe you have to remove the center console “rails” and passenger dash cover to access some of the bolts between the steering column and center console. There’s also a few panels under the wheel and on the Driver’s side (door facing) that need to be pulled. I didn’t remove it fully but was able to access enough to get my hand in and confirm feeling the battery compartment hump.

Just in case anyone is following this thread, I found the TCU unit for my 2018 RR Sport HSE Dynamic! It was not under the dash, it was not in the rear side panels, it was actually in in the left-hand C-pillar (driver’s side) behind the trim. See photos and illustrations. I was able to use a torx screwdriver to get the battery cover off and change the battery with no problems. The SOS warning is gone!!
