Rooftop carrier for Evoque WITHOUT rails

I am retiring from the military (yay!) and preparing for my final cross country move. The Evoque has much less space than my LR2 did, so I am looking at rooftop carriers. I don't have the rails and am wondering if anyone has used one of the softside rooftop carriers. I am concerned about putting a carrier or weight directly on the rooftop glass. Thanks!

Softside roof carriers are designed for things like station wagons and sedans where a large metal roof space is available for weight support. At an absolute minimum you will need to have some kind of cross bar to support any kind of roof top carrier you purchase. Absolutely do NOT put any weight on the roof glass.

Another option is slow boat shipping such as grey hound.

Agree with the other comments, and would avoid putting load directly onto the glass roof. I had this setup below on our Evoque, worked well. Roof rails were a relatively easy DIY install. Plus you can always use them in the future after you move. As you mentioned, the Evoque does not have a lot of carrying capacity.
