I am considering buying a P38, I have found one I like the look of by the south coast(I have been speaking with the owner) my only concern is with it spending so much time down by the coast will I have to worry about rust both now and in the future. I know range rover classics had a real problem with rust and I no of a few when my dad was looking for his that many down by the coast were a right state, I just dont want to buy something now that has the potential to be a rust bucket in the future. By the way I live near london so it wont be spending its time by the sea in the future. Also how does the P38 compare to the classic for rust problems in general?

Cheers mike.

mine is a 98, with over 180k miles, zero rust.
mind with the oil/fluid leaks, i am not surprised... :thumb:

they are a lot better than the older models, i had them before i moved over to the states from lancs.

Mine rusts behind the left headlight (when seen from the driver's seat), at the point where the body is bolted to the chassis. The chassis is rust free. I know because I spent quite some time under it.

We (i.e. us in the low lands at the North Sea Coast) salt the roads when things get icy, so I guess I can't complain.
