No Radio control

Most times I get into Rover I have no control over radio. Whatever setting it was on, station, volume etc are frozen. I cannot turn off/on, up down, change stations, nothing. This goes for radio head unit controls and steering wheel controls. Then other times I have full control over everything.

Any clue?

If you are comfortable with electronics you can take the radio apart and clean it. It is possible that some corrosion is forming and cleaning the board and then spraying with polyurethane or similar could resolve. Most all electric problems I have had in my Rover I fixed without actually replacing any components, though I did have to clean up a number of solder joints. It is my opinion that most faults could have been prevented if Rover had only coated the boards.

If you are not comfortable, get a specialist to do. www.roverville.us is one such specialist

I not scared, I'll pull radio and open up to look around. At first I thought there was a button sticking somewhere locking everything out but that doesn't appear to be the case. I've had not radio control for 4 days now then today I get in and have full control over everything. Go figure.

Makes complete sense. That is the best case scenario because it is likely it is only one connection problem. Everything on the radio is ground trigger based. There is a simpler possibility. The rotary coupler in the steering wheel is connected to a resistive divider network. Pull the remote wire going to the back of the radio. If that was jammed up then it could cause the radio to lock up. RAVE will tell you which wire, or I can dig it up. That will help you isolate the problem - whether within the radio or on the rotary circuit. Pulling the wire will kill the steering wheel functions, but if it restores functionality you know where the problem lies. Good luck...
