Cruising mine at 75-80 mph, I can get 15-16 mpg on LPG so that would suggest I'd get 17-18 if I ever ran it on petrol. I can get nearer 18 mpg if I drive at 50 mph but I'd fall asleep from boredom and I'm down to 13 mpg cruising at 70 mph with a 2.5 tonne trailer on the back. But mine is a 4.0 litre not a 4.6.

need to figure out the damage to my pocket well in advance since its the first time im going such a long distance with this car....
will just change plugs a few weeks to it all and have a petrol tanker follow me from a safe distance...

I reset my trip computer on a 120 mile round trip to Heathrow a couple of months ago.

I was running on LPG most of the time, but I did see 20.6mpg on the trip computer at one point. Was pretty much straight cruising at 70mph (ish).
Around town, it generally averages at about 16mpg.

I drive it fairly sparingly at the moment as I have a slack transfer case chain that skips if I get too excited with the throttle..

Oh, and mine's a 2001 (Thor) 4.6.

Up in Yorkshire at the moment and the 245 mile journey up here, the mpg was reporting 22.3 overall. That was an average speed of around 75mph on the motorways. I was impressed with that, and on a long journey, that's generally what I get.
That was also three adults, a dog and a boot full of cases and camera gear.

Don't do enough decent runs to be sure what its doing right now but my year 2000 4.0 HSE will get in the region of 22 to 24 mpg for a full tank on motorway and A road duties. Don't hang around but like to keep it rolling rather than push up close in traffic. Motorway 65 to 75 mph region, A roads 50 to 60 where I can and no banzia overtakes. Five minutes here or there matters not and you hafta go some to really make useful time.

you guys run on what that display in the cluster says?.... I would be without diesel 100km before the fillingstation....

My tripcomputer states the fuelconsumption is 9,2 lit/100km (25,56 mpg) in real, calculated from what goes into the tank and what amount of km i've driven it consumes a lot more: 12,5 l/100km (18,82 mpg)

I take the readout as a 'rough guide'... the last time I went on a long journey (1400 miles in 2 weeks) I actually worked out the miles done, the fuel used (LPG and Petrol) and worked out an average of about 19mpg for both petrol and LPG.

I keep trying to work out my MPG but I just can't stay sensible with the throttle. Lots of boy racer Clio's and Corsa's round our way and they like going into the turn right lane at traffic lights, to go straight on, thinking I've got a slug of a 4X4 and, as there are a lot of farms roundabout here, its probably a diesel (no offence to diesels), so the 4.0 V8 has to burble and sing in sport mode, you know just to put them in their place. Preferably in my rear view mirror, :) , but if I can be sensible I can get up to a heady 15-16 Mpg round town and cruise control at 70 will see ~19/20 after a few miles.
