Interested to see if there is any aftermarket option for this. From what I have been told, it is not currently possible to code it yet...

 

Not sure on 460, but on my ‘16 405 I just disconnected the extra battery in the rear. I don’t think there’s a code (on the 405).

 

Any thoughts if this is possible on the L494?

I would guess yes, but don’t know. Pull the rear interior panel off on the right side. Depending on the year you may see the actual battery or it may be hidden in there. I think there were two or three electrical connections, like a normal wiring harness. I disconnected one, and it was the wrong one. Then I disconnected a second one and it worked.

Just to chime in, yes disconnecting the extra battery will take care of this "feature". Just keep in mind to not let the dealership reconnect it (or worse, sell you the replacement battery) as then it will be back on. Whenever I take the car to service they always offer to "fix" this "problem" but I just tell them to leave it alone. Happy ever since.

 

Yes, I disconnected it and works all works fine so great news! It was a huge pain imo.

 

Doesn't the amber warning light on dash come on in vehicle when you disconnect battery for auto start/stop feature. My battery went dead in my '14 autobiography and the light has been on ever since. Yes the truck no longer start/stops when at street lights but that idiot light is annoying to look at.....I did not replace battery because I am trading it in

 

Most "worthless" feature on any Rover... On any vehicle as well unless you like excessive engine wear along with adding 1.5-2.0+ seconds to your 0-62MPH times from a stop... It's easily defeated and was the first "Mod" I did when we brought her home. If I wanted to save 2 gallons of fuel a year I'd have bought a vehicle without a soul... Like a Toyota, Kia, Honda, or Nissan... YMMV...

No engine line here. Simply unplugged and you get the icon on dash when it should stop at a light that it is disable but nothing else. Everything else works fine!

 

It’s known as the eco start… it can be disabled. On the buttons next to the right hand armrest..assuming you mean the start stop when at lights etc not the morning auto start that saves us in the winter….

 

Once you press the button, will it be disabled the next time you use the car? Or do you have to press the button every time you enter the vehicle?

No.. once disabled no re pressing .. I’ve never touched it .on the l405 as you can see there’s a button.. you can engage or disengage it at the touch of that eco button, no unplugging of anything.. just hit button.the yellow eco sign stays on the dash indicating eco is off…

 

Lucky you with your L405. My L494 is different, the button resets on restart so no other choice but to unplug if you want it disables permanently

 

I’ve had mixed results with my ‘16 L494:
This will not help anyone else, unless it helps to solve a little mystery with mine.
The auto start-stop wasn’t working, regardless of the button setting disabled or enabled.
Every time I connect my laptop and reset codes, or disconnect the battery, the behavior returns for a few weeks or so, but eventually the A/S/S just stops working again.
I have looked for a second battery a few times and just can’t find one.

I never looked up the fuse. I assumed there were other things using the same fuse, which is why everyone before me recommended just disconnecting the battery/module. If it doesn’t connect to anything else, that would also work.

Use Garrett, this works perfect. Makes the last used option saved until you change it. so if it's off it stays off.
Plus a bunch more options on if you like.

Posting this for ease of finding information in one location for different model years to permanently disable the Auto Start-Stop feature depending upon the year of the vehicle.

Step 1: Pull off the interior right rear trunk trim panel by pulling with your hands at the portion closest to the back seat and then working your way back towards the rear of the car. There are 3 plastic plugs that connect the wheel well cover to the trunk compartment.

2014 LWB Range Rover Supercharged:
Option #1 – Once the auxiliary battery becomes low, the Auto Start-Stop feature stops working and there is no indication of any issues other than in the dashboard indicating that it is off.
Option #2 – If you remove the black cable from the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery, wrap it with black tape so it does not contact metal, that works too.

2017 LWB Range Rover Supercharged:
I don’t know where the auxiliary battery is or if it has one, but all I had to do was disconnect the top of the 3 plugs in the image below and you are done. The best part is there is no indication that it has been turned off at the dashboard.

@domefire65 Yes, I have a MY 2020 RR and disabled that feature using the GAP tool. It was the first thing I did after purchasing the vehicle - after ordering a GAP tool, of course.

You need to enable the feature that remembers the vehicle's settings when you turn it off. No need to yank out battery connections or live with the misery of pressing the silly software switch on the screen every time you start it - and then, invariably, resist the temptation to hit the button again because it does nothing - but 3 seconds later it does what it was asked to do, but now you hit it twice and it's on again!
