(Bloomberg) -- Jaguar Land Rover North America will recall as many as 104,000 cars after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published three notices that highlighted issues that could lead to faulty braking and lighting.
The largest portion of vehicles called back is the 74,648 Range Rover models built from April 15, 2005 to Sept. 4, 2012. The company will replace front brake hoses, which could rupture and slow braking speed, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the notice filed today. The recall is expected to begin March 13.Another 24,679 cars will be recalled due to similar braking concerns: Vehicles built from Aug. 16, 2012 to Jan. 8, 2014, and sport models made from May 7, 2013 to Jan. 8, 2014.

To check and see if your RRs VIN is under recall: (my '08 SC is)

http://www.landroverusa.com/ownership/product-recall-search.html

You'll need your VIN to check.

I guess the good news is that we'll all get new front brake hoses.

I just saw this on my local boston news app

Land Rover, Jaguar will recall 104,000 vehicles

Land Rover and Jaguar are recalling 104,000 vehicles because of problems with the brakes and lights.

The largest recall involves a brake-hose issue that Jaguar Land Rover North America studied and dismissed, only to reopen after an accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued notices on the recalls Friday.

The safety agency said that Jaguar Land Rover North America will recall up to 74,648 Range Rovers because one or both front brake hoses could rupture, causing the loss of braking fluid.

Land Rover dealers will replace the brake hoses for free on the cars, which are model years 2006 through 2012.

Mine is part of the recall as well.

Anyone know what the procedure is if you're not the first owner?

If you're not the first owner, and you've never reported to landroverusa that you're the current, owner, suggest you call their customer service department.

I did that with BMW USA. We own two 2003 3 wagons that are subject to the exploding-air-bag recall. I called them, and they registered the VINs on those two cars, so that when repairs are finally made (I think with all the air-bag recalls, there's a shortage of parts to repair them), we'll get notice.

I'm planning on calling landroverusa tomorrow to get the ball rolling.

I just got off the phone with Land Rover USA. (800.637.6837, press 9 when you get the menu options).

Because I've never had the truck service at a dealer, the prior owner still showed as the owner on LR's records.

I had to email them a scan of my registration and title to show that I was, in fact, the new owner. They emailed me while we were talking, so it was a pretty efficient process.

If you've had your RR serviced at a dealer, then you should be in the LR system.

If not, I suggest you call them, and be ready to email them proof of ownership.

We bought our 08 RR HSE in January and have only gone to our former Saab dealer for a set of GY Duratracs, but we received the recall letter in the mail. Not sure how that came to be, but I guess you do not need to go to a LR dealer to be in the system - apparently any dealer will trigger change of ownership!

I use Dot 4, and it's clear.
For those of you somewhat impatient (like me), don't even bother calling to schedule with the dealers. All from Westchester, NYC and NJ were like---"You have to wait till LR contacts you/us".
Arggghhhh.

I'd assume that since I purchased my L322 from the Land Rover Dealer, that they would have me down as the owner... haha.

If they don't contact me in a few months I'll give them a call.

Mine is included. Getting an oil change in April. I guess I'll have it knocked out then.

I called the dealer and asked yesterday. He said that the bulletin/ recall is in the system but that there isn't an action that should be taken yet. He doesn't get know if the action will be inspection or just automatic replacement.

If it's just inspection, I will not waste my time. I just recently replaced all my pads/rotors and completely flushed my brake fluid. The lines looked good.

If they're going to replace the lines on all trucks, I might as well get it done. Free brake hoses. Why not?

#21 ·
If you go to the first post and click the LR link the LR official site states it will be replaced. Not inspected. So I, like I'm sure many of you also, will be copying that and ensuring they live up to their own stated action or risk an even greater class action suit.

Just saying

To further flog the horse, here's what LR USA's site returned after I entered my VIN:

I got the same notice when I entered my vin which states that there is no remedy available.
I did confirm the recall with Land Rover USA and was able to get my name associated with the vehicle that I purchased a few months ago (I am the 2nd owner).
When I called my dealer in Minneapolis they had no clue what I was talking about. The service advisor pretended to enter my vin into a computer and couldn't find any recalls regarding the brakes. Perhaps they aren't prepared for an influx of brake hose changes if that is indeed the remedy.
It doesn't sound like all of the dealers are in the loop as to what to do.

None of this is of any surprise. When a recall is announced there is alot of behind the scenes work to be done prior to the dealership being able to make room for customers. Procedures, billing codes and campaign info has to be prepared and transmitted. Most importantly among the mess is that new parts have to be supplied to the dealers. While all of this is going on the old parts have to be removed from the supply chain. Until all of these steps are completed and/or in place there will be no "remedy available" in the official channels. At this point calling in to service is very premature and only clogging up the phone lines.
