Anyone using the Sygic App in Incontrol?

Just took a look, this seems to be a very up to date navigation app with all bells and wistles - even upgradable with real time traffic. Runs apparently embedded in Incontrol. So what's the point in spending 4000$ for the RR nav if you'd get by with less than 100$ and an iPhone?

No, it's a 3.5k EURO option over here (Germany). Everyone is telling me it's a crap, so I took risk not to spec it. I was thinking on using an aftermarket nav hooked on to the video input

I have not been looking too close to the inControl stuff when ordering the car, now I do since delivery date gets closer. Finding out that there seems to be an option to bring Nav to the stock display was a positive surprise to me. Seems I could get by with much less mods and cost.

I have to agree, the systems are not crap. They are more than adequate for most anyone out there. I've never had issue with any LR nav system. Usually folks that complain about such things are the ill informed, those that made assumptions or those that whine that LR doesn;t have the same systems and tech as the Germans.

Let's be realistic for a moment. Most people drive to the same locations and know how to get there. Many people never touch their nav save for an occasional restaurant, rare road trip or visit to a new friends home. ANY navigation will get you there. Very few folks use nav on a daily basis. Those few that do should have had the common sense to test drive the system prior to purchase since it is obviously so high on their priority list. No matter what some people are never happy and jsut want to complain.

What may be state of the art in 2015 will be outdated at any time by another feature of development. Quite frankly it;s ridiculous and lame to whine about it constantly. A great example is cell phones. My S5 makes calls, plays games and streams video jsut as well as an S6. Do I need to run out and purchase a new phone because it;s a micro second faster or has different icons? Dear lourde no.

I'm pretty happy to have the navigation system there for those times we do trips to parts unknown (plus, visually speaking, I like having the map up as I drive anyway). To me google maps can't be beat, but I find the system works well enough and I like having it right there in the vehicle.

That said, I would balk if it was a $4000 option!

Navigation is standard in Germany in General, only an option for the S version of the L494.

For SE, HSE, Hybrid, Autobiography and SVR it is aus usual Standard.

In General the S Version is not really selling, als it misses to many options and combinations and also the higher engines and offroad Programms. Price is around 62.000 EUR for the S Version, but to make it a competitive car you are ending at min 75.000. In General the L494 in Germany is at an average of 95.000 EUR, as most of the Cars are sold in HSE Dynamic or Autobiography versions.

Back to topic: Please take a SE as the incontrol Navi from Sygic is useless, als it dosent work once you use the phone for calls or any other uses will override the navigation.
And in General incontrol Apps has slow reactions and often it dosent work.

Oh well, life is full of compromises. Mine is that I had to choose between a upscale version of i.e. an Evoque, or a more basic RR Sports model. I choose the second one, since I feel I get a much better value for money. I know the Etveque very well, it's an excellent car, my wife has one, lightyears better compared i.e. to any BMW she was driving in the past. But I wanted to go a bit larger, so I need to give up on some less useful features like different painted grills and some useful features like a fully integrated nav, even if it's not the most sophisticated one.

But back to the topic: It's quite unclear to me what is contained in the standard spec. InControl Essential Apps seems to be in, InControl Apps may be not. I think I am going to find out once the car is been delivered and I will let the world know.

BTW seems to be that some of the limitation i.e. Sigic has are caused by IOS rather than the app itself.

Understood.

I only wanted to give you my impressions because I used Sygic as I thought it is an Upgrade to the stock System.

Main Problem, it dosent work when the Phone is in use. And if you want to Check anything on the Phone it disconnect direct if you Touch the phone and you have to re connect the car with the Phone again.

This is really not as it should. All Problems and limitations are only from LR coming, as Sygic Works
Phantastic when you use it direct on the phone.

When you're done whatever you are doing with your phone, will it come back to Sygic with the previous information still running? If so, that would not be too bad; however, if you had to re-enter destination etc. that would make it totally useless.
