Sorry, haven't tried Redline, but I have tried Royal Purple 75w 90 and two different Lucas products; Lucas heavy duty 85w 140, and now I am in Lucas 80w 90. Gotta say, the dino fluids are a lot quieter than the synthetic.

Also just a side note, ran the RRS at a high speed for about 10 miles with a large earth magnet ($2.69 at Home Depot) on the diff bolts and I was able to pull out every last bit of the metal flakes when I dropped the hot fluid out.

 

I replaced the front and rear differentials in my 2006 Sport HSE with Redline 75W140 at 67,000 miles in addition to a full trans service and transfer case lube change with factory lubricant . After @ 3,000 miles including a recent drive from Florida to Michigan, the axle noise has all but disappeared. I'm not sure why you would need the shockproof, are you using it in a severe condition?

 

Not using it for anything other than my wife mall crawling. But I do have front diff noise and I wanted to see if anybody was using the shockproof, I use it in my Cannondale ATV trannys and I like it just wondering how it works in the Rover diff.

 

I'm confused. Aren't these high calcium oils(what RL is calling shockproof) basically ATF fluids? I don't think they are meant as long term use diff fluids at all. I think you would be courting disaster.

Edit: just checked the RL site and the viscosity on the lw shockproof is like a syn ATF.

 

I know the LW shockproof is really slick and sticks to everything. Maybe I need to look at the heavy weight shockproof or one of the other gear lubes.

 

I am running redline fluids in my diff and tranny.

Diff = 75w90
Tranny - D4 as it seems to meet the Shell spec.
