Any downsides to Dynamat (or similar)?

I'm often driving on gravel roads where I live and the tin can sound of the rocks spitting up and hitting the undercarriage is starting to become annoying. I luckily don't really have any rust and the car is pretty well sealed except for a slight leak somewhere in the passenger footwell (dealing with that).

My thought is to throw some Dynamat or other sound deadener, under the factory padding, to help with this. But, before I start sticking this stuff everywhere, are there any downsides to this? I think the answer is no, but wanted to put this out there before laying down a bunch of product that is supposedly unbearable to remove if it has to be.

No down side to dynamat, but do the job properly. Rear the seats, centre console and remove the carpet all all that sponge crap that LR fitted. Treat/fix any rust areas.

Cover as much metal as you can with the dynmat then top it off with the dynapad. I used the large box of Eastmans matting then a roll of the dyanpad.

Dyanpad does not soak up water like the sponge stuff.

Good luck on your quest.
