That’s bonkers. Connecting to the wire shouldn’t allow that, it’s not the lack of connection that should prevent that, but rather an encrypted communication requirement.
A friend had someone attempt to steal his RR from his apartment building secure car park. They cut the section behind the driver's side plastic panel to access the wiring loom behind. He interrupted them but apparently this is a known issue.
That is crazy. They will do anything to steal a car, that is the first time I see such a way or hear about the access to the wiring loom in the door.
