Hi all:
I am looking to make up a way to pressurize localized parts of the air suspension to search for a leak that I cannot find with the soapy water trick. I want to put a schrader valve on one end and the appropriate fitting on the other end so that I can pressurize an individual air spring. I would prefer not to cut the existing tubing,. I know the tubing is 6mm but I dont know about the fittings. anyone?

For any MARS type system you will need to cut the existing tubing to install the T fittings and mount the four schrader valves. Some MARS have additional shut offs to eliminate the valves from the equation. However since you have to disable the EAS to use the MARS they really are not necessary as the default position for valves is "closed".

As far as schrader valve size they would obviously be the same size as your air lines. Easily purchased at any big rig supply house or well outfitted commercial pneumatics vendor.

1980, we are well aware of what you are wanting to do. It is and has been documented quite well in existing posts. Your question has already been answered above. Grab your yellow pages or search the internet for a supplier near you.

I have searched and searched this site and others and I cannot find a single post withany information, much less reliable information about the L322 that will tell me EXACTLY what the fitting is on the strut, or the crossover. So that I dont have to cut into the system. I know that I can get 6mm push connectors and Tees and schrader valves from a Grainger or McMaster Carr or any number of other places. What I do not know is what is the male end of the screw on fitting on the strut or the crossover valve, or the valve block etc. If some one knows please post a link.

given how ubiquitous such information is for the P38, I figured someone would know, to save me from removing something from teh vehicle and having to take it physically to Grainger or whereever to try to match it up.

If anyone knows, please share.

WHat are you confused about? You have 6mm line, purchase 6mm fittings. It really is that easy. As noted above you WILL have to disconnect or cut into the system in order to install ANY fittings. There is simply no way around it.

Why do I have to cut the system? What I want to do is, effectively, inflate the strut as if it is off of the vehicle? There is a fitting on the end of the air hose that enters the strut, I want to buy that fitting, attach a length of hose to it, and put a schrader valve on it. Are you saying that fitting cannot be bought?

Apologies, most of the time when people install MARS it is a permanent install so it is always available for troubleshooting and/or recovery. At no did you mention this was a temp, one bag at a time idea.

Better to pull existing air line and shove in a pce of 6mm line with matching 6mm metric cap. I have a bung from an arnott replacement spring and it looks like a 1/8npt size with a corresponding o-ring. So it is small and the metric equivalent is larger than an 8mm helicoil kit i have. I will try to pass by home depot tomorrow as they have a metric thread display. I think it will be a a M10x1.25. If the supplier has a cap in that size you should be good. The arnott bung i have also has an O-ring on the outside of the fitting so not sure if you could get one like that. if without then you would have to teflon tape it in as likely the thread is not tapered like a pipe thread-so the cap would be best. Obviously just my 02. but will try to check

So, in the end I did not get the screw in fittings that are at the valve block, cross over, and the bag itself. But I did get some parts that allow one to cut the line, attach a schraeder valve, inflate the system, and then check for leaks. For posterity, I post what I used -- all of which were purchased from McMaster Carr.

Footnote: While I was waiting to diagnose my leak (which turned out to be the large o-rings on an air bag, which was why the soapy water spray trick did not work), my abs computer went up - again. Causing all sorts of mayhem with faults. I had had it repaired by Matt at cheapabs.com a year earlier. Matt fixed it again - this time for nothing. I cannot say enough good things about his operation.

A great solution and easier to connect with air hose than metric threaded parts. I apologize for not finding the thread size so thank you for posting the specifics.
