Hey guys, was wondering if anyone ever tried to upgrade the window switches on 2014-2017 RRS to the newer style 2018 ones? Not sure if they are plug and play, but i just ordered the window switches and eager to find out how to do the upgrade. They may not have the same port on the back of it as the older ones do, so if not, then hopefully there could be some soldering done to the wiring. Let me know, thanks!

Not yet, waiting for them to arrive in the mail. Purchased them from someone that had a totaled 2018 RRS across the country, bought a few other parts for a total price so there is no price i paid for these in particular. They would either have to be bought from UK ebay if you get lucky, or straight from the dealer to be completely honest. Good luck guys! I will tear down my door panel once i receive them and let yall know what i see!

Ok so heres the deal guys, the moment you all been waiting for. I just installed the 2018 style window switches at a totally CUSTOM approach. This upgrade by no means was a plug and play, i had to solder the wires together since the ports arent the same. And i had to secure the window switch with custom made brackets by myself since they arent secured with secrews on the 2018 (bummer). The new window switch was a bit smaller than the hole made in the door panel on the 2014+, so therefore i had to use the outer frame of the old window switch to fill in the gap all around the new window switch. Overall, was a successful upgrade and this was a 1 of 1 done ever in existence. Hope it helped.

Hmm, yeah, that's out of my DIY league unless it's a direct plug and play replacement

Carsystem’s posted a retrofit upgrade for the window switch pack today on there IG account. No further information about it.

Yeah I saw that, pretty interesting, I have to imagine they just built an adapter for the electrical harness. The thing is, those two components are different sizes (As seen before in this thread), he had to use mount the new switches on something to allow them to fit properly if I recall correctly. Those pics look like it fits very sung or perfect while being a different size; So maybe they’re using the door panels off a 2018+? Idk, would be cool if they offered a pack of all 4 and they were PNP modified size wise to fit the legacy gen.

Thanks for the post! Great work. So I went ahead and bought everything to be able to install the new window switch pack on my L405 since L405 and L494 are the same design when it comes to those little things. Same thing here the cut hole in the door is a bit bigger for the new switch pack. So I used the old outer frame which was silver in my case to be able to support it. My only problem now is the pin configuration !! I thought it would be only three pins and I kinda be able to play around with it until i get it right, but the new switch pack I got has 6 pins sticking out, and im wording how many pins are sticking out from the new switch pack you got RRJon818 ? I have this suspension lowering button option on my window switch pack and this uses 3 wires and has a green connector as shown in the picture. Your RRS does not look like it has it and I kinda see it light up in the new one you have but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. In addition, the window switches use another 3 wires and use the blue connector. So this is a total of six wires. I have no idea in what order they go or which 3 of those 6 pins are used to be able to operate window, door lock and mirror controls. Im searching around to find pin configuration for the new window switch or at least something smiller that would help as which one is power and which one is ground and etc.. RRJON818 your input would be highly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your response. For mine, i cut the connectors off and played around with the wiring to see which ones work with each other. Best tip i could give you is the same. Since yours has more wires, i would recommend to play around with them, try connecting 2 wires in one. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, but this is going to be a lot of playing around lol cause they are A LOT of possible combinations. I thought I would figure out how to turn on the switch pack first on my workbench using DC power supply with different set of voltages to kinda know where power and ground are. Cause I tested the 3 wire blue door conector that's going to the switch pack and it's 12 Vdc and middle one uses 4.8 vdc so I'm not going to step up the voltage any higher than that. Let's see how that goes.

Success ! I was able to turn on the new 2018+ switch pack and have it function. Credits go to Carsystems, they are the one who helped me out with the pin configuration. I had to use only pins 1,3,5 from the new 2018+ switch pack itself. Everything in the new 2018+ switch pack works just fine except two things: of course access Mode since I do not have it even plugged in in the first place, and folding the mirrors since it has a separate button in the new 2018+ switch pack while the older one had you to press two buttons at the same time. The new 2018+ switch pack Looks so beautiful compered to the older one. Good news is Carsystems is developing a new adapter that would convert line bus protocols as well as a bracket which would make it 100% functional. I have reached out to them and they sent me a few pictures of the adapter they are developing which will be ready to sell in a week or so. they are also working in retrofitting a lot other things. They are super awesome and have very good customer service. If you guys want to place an order contact their email and they will be able to support you: support@carsystems.com.ua.

In the mean time, I will change all remaining 3 door panels window switches to the new 2018+ switches.Good thing is the small switches for the rear and passenger do not need adapters only connecters are different so it is a matter of soldering wires together.

Good Luck !

Excellent job! Do you have any photos of the unit installed? I would like to see how it fits in the pre existing hole from the old door panel

Hi Guys, I am contemplating this switch change but I have a question for the driver side part. I see two part suggested here LR113038 and LR099171. I check with Lrparts and it seems one is for car with air suspension and one is not. I dont think the switch allows for air suspension control right?
Then when I gave them a vin to check, they suggest another part LR123006. A quick google shows it is with folding mirror. Doesnt the first two parts have folding mirror? Or are the first two parts wrong?

Unfortunately this isn’t plug and play. Also the door cut out is larger on the older controls and would require a spacer. See set being sold on EBay:

A tech company in Russia manufactures the harnesses to be able to plug and play. But you would still need the spacer from them also and could purchase the switches locally.

Hi thanks for reply. Yes i forgot to clarify. I am just checking for the correct part to get for the window switch apart from the harness and adaptor needed.
is the part LR123006 correct for the driver window switch?
Sorry, that I’m not certain of. The eBay kit references LR099171. Good luck and follow up how it turns out. Would be great to see a full install.
