So, my 2007 4.2 has started losing coolant somewhere.
Work done so far:
So far, everything points to a leak in the cooling system. But I can't see any sign of one, even after putting tracer in the coolant and poking around the engine with a UV light.
According to info on the forum and elsewhere, the coolant hoses under the supercharger often leak. But... before I pull the supercharger off and order $$$ of parts, it would be great to get confirmation that this makes sense! Could a small leak under the supercharger happen without any obvious sign of coolant on/under the engine?
Work done so far:
- Replaced header tank as bits of it were starting to crumble - didn't fix the problem
- Tested for combustion gases in coolant - none found
- Checked the oil for coolant - none found
- Pressure tested the cooling system - small pressure loss
