I know you guys are talking about the L460, just to let you know, I drove my 2020 L405 SCV8 on the highway from Batumi to Tbilisi to the speed limiter of 222 kph (about 139 mph) and only above 200 kph (125mph) did the wind noise around the A pillars, outside mirrors and the front of the sunroof area began to get real loud. Otherwise it was fairly quite up to 200kph/125mph. If that's the case with the L460, I might think about something else next year.

So despite being booked in for 2 months, they lost the double sided tape they had bought and now need to re-book to have the work completed (the foam and filling was done). That said, what they have done already has made a SIGNIFICANT difference. There is no noise at 50mph now and at 70+ it is much less intrusive. I would say 60% improvement generally. The car feels much more cosseted and less "exposed" somehow now - especially as cars drive past in the rain which was very loud before.

So if you think there is an issue, get it done. It is now quieter than the X5 to a reasonable degree.

Hi Alex
thats great to hear. What exactly did they do?
I’d gladly have it done if it makes any difference, but my concern is them doing more damage taking the car apart.

can you detail what was done and if it caused any damage to the car? Lol

I brought my car in a month ago, with the printed Technical Service bulletin in hand (thank you forum). A quick test drive confirmed they did need to perform the bulletin. I was told that they'd need the car for three days, as they had to order the parts. On the third day they said the parts were delayed and i'd need to bring the car back. I brought the car back in today and was promised the service would be completed same day. Late in the day today they texted advising that while doing the bulletin they realized that the car was built minus the below pads in the doors. I needed the car back tonight as i have a business trip tomorrow, so I'll now need to take the car in again probably in a week to get these pads added. I'm at the point that i'm going to talk to the dealer about taking the car back. I've said it before, but now my wife is on board with this. We have a 550e Autobiography on order, so i'm thinking to take some time away from Rover until that arrives and hopefully is built correctly. I've had multiple Range Rovers for over 15 years and never had even one issue until now. From the day I bought the car, there have been problems that they are continuously having to fix.

It’s not clear to me either… the dealer texted you, after your second visit, that the car “was built without these pads”? I thought that was already established hence the noise? Why exactly they couldn’t get the job done, is it because there was additional foam that was missing from those described in the tech bulletin?

Here's what it's supposed to look like.

Here is the text my dealer sent along with the pictures.

"I just wanted to let you know that we will need the car one more day. Although we got every single piece needed to complete the this service bulletin. What we have realized is. There is a pair of pads missing on each door panel that more than likely also the cause of how excessive the noise is. Here is a photo if what the panel should look like even before adding the adding adhesive."

Good idea on the before and after. Will keep you posted. I actually called my salesman this AM about getting out of the lease. The 2019 Rover I traded in for this car is still on their lot. I asked if maybe he could get me into that until my Autobiography arrives, which might be a year.

Mine is back in having the balance of the soundproofing completed. Will advise of full impact when all done.

Every time I have taken it in there has been a recall due - two this time which makes it 3 I think so far? Seems a lot for circa 12 months of ownership!

HI Alex
What are the recalls?
I know of only one - the tailgate light cables fraying and needing insulating.
interested t9 know what else as my car is going int9 the dealer on Thursday to have - slow puncture / leaking valve fixed, rear task light going on by itself, etc

It’s a recall? I’ve been following the discussions re wimd noise etc but I never heard it was a recall. Are yo7 saying it’s for all new models?
I don't know if the correct terminology is "recall" - but on all early '23 models, if you take it in, and say there is wind noise, there is a foam package they order to fix it. there are some insulation adds in the engine Bay Area, something in the back seat area, and something in the front triangle side window areas. Newer builds supposedly come with it from factory. Oh, and they don't let service order the parts without your VIN which it cross-checks against.

I’m not sure we have the same in the U.K. i have wind noise on mine but I’m really not sure if it’s normal or not I guess. Maybe I need to drive a very recent vehicle to compare. Is it on all models, engines etc ?

Yes because it’s an insulation thing and not a drivetrain related thing. Supposed to be fixed on the newest builds
