In this review, she say that there is a bit more wind noise then anticipated, and a good amount of road noise from those low-profile tires (23s), can anyone confirm this with 22s

If it were me, I would drive the car first to see if you have the issue or not. This is a pretty invasive and on-the-fly fix (an attempt rather). I stopped by to discuss this with my SA today (we have a good and long term relationship) and he looked at me a chuckled at this, especially the foam pieces being cut on site and stuffed in at the top of the A-pillar. He was going to chat with one of his senior guys about doing this and what their thoughts were. There is no much room for error and disassembling all this and ensuring it goes back as was designed to be in a factory. Someone else had suggested waiting until LR makes a true repair kit vs having the deal slap some random things together.

Looks like someone over the L461 forum actually had the work done, work order references the TB:

Hi Brandon, my issue was from the passenger side window. At high speed or moderate outside wind it sounded like a window was slightly open. Considering how quiet the rest of the car was it was very noticeable. After the most recent fix, I wanted to make sure that the noise was gone. I have driven it for several days and it seems to have been fixed. I am not 100% sure if that is your same problem. I have included section of the service work order.

Hi Alex
My car has wind noise too.

it’s on my list of things to fix along with chipped windscreen, battery discharge, warped disc brakes, missing gesture tailgate open module and now as of today, no rear lights or indicators!
Dealer says the wind noise has to be diagnosed as can be any of a range of issues….
any luck with yours?

HI all, I am now booked in for 1 August to have the US service bulletin applied to my RR in the UK. This took some arm twisting but I am so far impressed by the attitude of the head of the dealership (had been talking to servicing only before). Let us see. He has said if it is successful he will recommend to all UK dealers that it be adopted as a UK bulletin. Great resource this forum - would never have been aware otherwise!

I think U.K. dealerships are all pretty bad. I’ve known around 7 so far and couldn’t choose one to recommend. At the End of the day I have t9 go t9 the one that has a vehicle I want. I’d always pick an independent garage like Premier GT if I could but sometimes ends up being a main dealer. The only thing that works is getting on first name terms with the head person on site.
right now I’m flying over on Weds to Hendy Christchurch to collect an SV. The first edition nearly caught fire owning to them supplying it with nowhere for the right hand side exhaust to go (yes hot gases were directly onto the plastic lower rear bumper. So whether they did the repair or not they should have seen it when they fitted the towbar (right in same place). That with dodgy brakes and other stuff, they are a shower.
But rather than refund they have upgraded me into a LWB SV P530 at list price with free extras. So I’ve taken the view for now to accept that offer (as I could sell it immediately for a £30k profit as there is only one other LWB SV for sale in the whole U.K.). But I want a car so I’ll keep it but the challenge is ensuring they can prepare this vehicle better the last. It’s only got 900 mikes rather then 12,000 and is a demo so hopefully far less risk, but you never know.
anyway, long intro to get to your point re wind noise. I come, aimed on the last car I’ve returned and assume the SV is the same. I’ve downgraded to 22in wheels to reduce road noise and I prove ride quality but wind noise won’t be helped at all so I’ve insisted they fix it before I collect on Friday. I’ve been told my the boss they know of the pronoem and have various fixes depending on the place where the noise is coming from so they’re chief technician will roadtest at 70mph and diagnose and fix by Friday. Clearly it might be a different issue to yours but hopefully might help if… they fix it. I wonder is the problem the same for everyone or does it vary by car. Clearly some of us are more sensitive than others. I expect total quiet or close as coming out of an X7 and having driven Bentaygas, they are all totally quiet. Yes, Rangey is more boxey but they boast the best drag coefficient so… no excuses I think. After my terrible exoericnes so far and now I’m paying an eye watering £195k for a car, I’ll insist it’s quiet. Shall 8 report back later in the week? PM me to swap phone numbers if you like.

Please report back - would be interested to hear and great that the dealership is taking you seriously - probably because you are more of a big hitter than I am!! Completely different attitude to what I faced previously but then I do wonder whether London dealerships are just less exposed to people that drive at motorway speeds regularly?!

I have the 22s as I do not think you can get 23s on the PHEV? They do not look as good but at least they are decent on the bouncy gravel track at home and when in fields etc.

Has anyone in Canada had this fix applied?
My wind noise is pretty bad above 80kmh or 50mph...very disappointing that they released the car as such.

My question is, these cars were being road tested for 1-2 years?!? No one noticed the intense wind noise? I don't get how this could even happen in the first place...

The wind noise in my car at motorway speeds is horrific and I have the active noise cancelling Meridian Signature. I have buffering and whistling across the roofline and A-pillars as well as the door mirrors. I have insisted that my UK dealer applies the US bulletin to my car. I have already had the quaterlight seals replaced which did little or nothing. Having removed the door tweeter speaker cover (which is probably the worst piece of nasty trim I have ever seen on a RR) I can see that my car has no NVH pad, which is shown on the bulletin in the image of the complete door. If that is not present I wonder what else is missing. Hopefully they will do the work next week.

Update: my LWB SV was tested and is fine. Techs texted it. I was sceptical but drive it at 70mph and a bit more and it was very quiet. Some wind noise but I’d describe that as gusting rather than a defect from wind hitting any part.
mire noisy were the 23in tyres which were far more noisy that the wind noise So I’m glad I’m changIn down to 22in.
However, see my new thread on 22in hybrid ride. Scarily bad.

Alex, I recently sold an X7. That has no wind noise and overall is a far better car all round for half the price. But here I am in yet another Range Rover (had 6 since the very first era). I grew up and learned to drive in my father‘s 1970 NXC 245H which is famous now and used by JLR in marketing Etc. It’s the Tuscan blue one opposite the Fifty model. I think your car might have an issue and I hope it’s fixed but the reality is that Range Rovers are flawed. I have gone through a lot of agro recently with a first edition I’ve rejected and now this SV. They aren’t perfect but no car comes close. I’ve owned 2 Bentaygas and an X7 and an SQ7 and been lent most other things from Urus to Cullinan. For a sporty all round SUV, bU.K. à Bentayga but no four wheel steer or lofty driving position, for a perfect but ugly car buy an X7, for a flawed but iconic car, buy a Range Rover. The V8 engine is not the latest, it has too much wind noise and I’m sure it will keep breaking down but the previous issues means my dealer owes me so I will get looked after for next 3 years. In terms of comfort, ability, ride height, presence and beauty, nothing comes even close but very important to have the 22in wheels and I fitted Contisilent tyres. Lovely silent smooth ride except as speed increases so does the wind but it’s the shape I think, as in gusty weather it’s much worse. Seems JLR made a mistake in their wind tunnel!
