I just took delivery of my MY25 Range Rover P400 SE SWB in Belgravia Green with shadow pack, 23” diamond turn wheels, semi-analine perlino interior, SV wheel, and gloss black piano finish. Thought I’d share my week one review. After waiting 3 years (first I ordered a PHEV but switched to ICE after 1.5 years of waiting, then had to start my wait over again and finally just received) I can say wow, the car is incredible!! The JLR V6 in the P400 is amazing. I wasn’t sure if I would regret not getting the V8, but no regrets at all. Dynamic mode is sick and eco is comfortably Range Rover and drives like a dream, on and off-road. The gas mileage isn’t the best, but better than my 2007 RR (which I kept). As some of you also questioned, I wasn’t sure if the wheel would come with the two-tone perlino or all black. When building I thought it was a glitch because previous MY did have a two-tone wheel, but I can confirm my wheel was not two-tone around the wheel. I have semi-analine and ordered the SV with the glossy black outer, so that could be the reason, not sure. I actually prefer the all black now that I see it.

With all the positives, there are just a couple of kinks I need to get worked out. They are as follows:
  1. Boot sometimes doesn’t close all the way when things are in trunk. Even when nowhere near the tailgate. I think it’s likely a sensor issue. When it closes it pops back open and open boot warning comes on. Wondering if anyone else has this issue.
  2. Wireless phone charger doesn’t always detect phone, and when detects barely charges phone and overheats. I believe this is a known issue and not much can be done about it.
  3. When I’m using CarPlay the navigation screen gets scorching hot behind the monitor in lower left and right corners. Not your normal device warm, like hot hot.
  4. iPhone sometimes overheats when plugged-in while using CarPlay.
I have a service appt next week, so will report back. Dropping off for PPF and ceramic coating tomorrow. Here are some pics.

My 2025 P400 was delivered a few weeks ago and I have the same issues with the wireless charger not detecting the phone, the phone overheating when it does, and the infotainment screen getting hot. As far as gas mileage, I'm pretty impressed with it. I took it on a 750 mile round trip this weekend at it averaged over 30mpg. That's all driving on 65-70mph interstates with my cruise on about 7-8mph over the speed limit. Always in comfort mode.

Screen getting hot is probs a software fix. I’ve made numerous posts regarding the steering wheel. The configurator on the Build & Price is wrong and you have half black because Grand Piano Gloss Black SV Steering Wheel is only available in Half Black regardless of Semi-Aniline on SE or not. But glad ya like it. Looks awesome! The Inline-6 P400 is great.

Great set up! I did have the P400 and then swapped for the V8 in the end, I was super happy with the P400, still getting used to the P530 now. Great interior, I also had to stick to the same though I would have preferred the SV natural black Birch over the gloss black finish. If you are getting ppf done, I would recommend you also get the high traffic areas (interior centre panel) done as this area is likely to get scuffed and this way you can protected against scratches and finger prints.

Yeah, I had dreams about the natural black birch x perlino, and was bummed I couldn’t get that combo. Still don’t understand why?! I’m def getting the interior PPF on the gloss black. I’m just getting bumpers and rocker panels on exterior but may ask them to just do the whole car.

Congrats! Did you opt for the Adcanced Off Road Pack? This is the last major decision for my build which I’ve submitted but can change till Mid January.

Also, are you happy with the diamond turned (1075) wheels or do you wish you would have went with glass black?

Thanks!

Did you get a heated steering wheel and the heated windshield and did you get the air conditioned ventilated front seats and does it come standard with rear heated seat seats?

Wow! Your new Rover is stunning! I have a 2018 LWB in Santorini black. Love it. Have an 06 sc too. Love that truck too!

My new Navigator does the same thing with the rear hatch stopping moving about halfway down and sounding the warning. It does this for no reason at least three times a week and just like you said, when there are no packages near the door…

My screen is also get hot on the phone and on the NAV screen in my navigator so sounds like these two issues in addition to the hatch are similar across brands. That’s why I’m taking time to mention even though it’s a Lincoln. I do not have this hatch issue or the hot screens in my 2018 rrlwb or in another 2017 navigator that we have

hope this helps!

I know it’s a personal preference on the wheels, but I’m sorry, you are fully correct wanting more traditional (yet modern) wheels on a rr. Always feel the all black is not classy and this is a classy truck. Especially the colors you got! Please enjoy the heck out of that truck!

Picked up a 2025 P550e Autobiography 2 weeks ago and I'm keeping a list of little things I may need to have the dealer look into. I had a 2019 ATB and this is clearly a noticeably different ride. In a good way.

Some of my observations are similar to yours:
  • Cold days so far and the battery charge retention is poor. After driving for half of the indicated charge capacity (25 miles), I switched to hybrid and stayed on it. Still, the EV charge was fully drained after 25 miles even though I was in hybrid mode
  • Charging on Level 1 is not good. Again, maybe it's the cold but I'm getting 1 mile per hour! I'll have to go with Level 2
  • The wireless charger rarely detects the phone and when it does, it barely charges it and heats it up. I'll be charging with cable when needed. I do like the wireless Apple CarPlay though
  • I've had 3 people approach me while backing up and ask me what the soothing orchestra sound coming from my car is. It was cool for the first few days but now I'm wondering if there's a way o turn it off. Their comments make it feel like that sound is louder outside than it is inside
  • The longer visor on the driver's side (the one that takes care of the window) doesn't stay in place. It keeps moving away from the driver's window towards my face. Small nuisance.
  • Still getting used to all the physical buttons now on the touchscreen. Not a fan but I'll get used to it.

Other than the above, it has been a great drive so far.

Regarding the reverse chime/orchestra/spaceship sound, it comes from a speaker under the hood and is rather loud outside (I believe all EVs are required to make a sound to alert pedestrians of the vehicle in motion, as there is no engine noise and so they might not hear it and get run over — however, the RR noise is definitely louder than other makes). I also wish the sound was a little quieter, but as this is a mandatory safety feature, there is no setting to alter or disable it. I suppose you could try to find the speaker and cut the wire, but then if you did happen to ever hit a pedestrian, you can be sure the prosecutor and/or plaintiff’s attorney would have a field day over that.

If you’re in a setting where you don’t want to draw attention from that sound, here’s a “trick” I use: before you shift into reverse, you can shift into Sport mode (obviously keep holding the brake), which will automatically start the engine, and if you then shift into reverse, the engine will keep running and you won’t get the EV sound. Hope that helps.

On my new Sport 550e the wireless charger does the same to my iPhone but also I have the same symptoms from my Ford pickup. I think the problem is because the camera bump doesn't allow the phone to lay flat. Since CarPlay seems to eat phone battery fairly quick I've given up and just use a wire to charge.

I do not have trouble with my wireless charger, ‘24 P530, I wonder if your phone case could be contributing to the issue? I do not remember the brand of my iPhone case, but it is designed for protection from high falls and bumps out at the camera too. I have an iPhone 14, regular (smaller size).

Just got my car back from service regarding the issues I outlined above. Here is what they said:

1) The tailgate hinges had to be slightly re-aligned. Now the trunk closes properly.
2) Wireless phone charger had no faults, according to JLR its working normal. So we shall see if this continues.
3) As far as the nav screen overheating, I thought I’d share the full note since I feel like this is an issue that will eventually be addressed when more people bring their cars in for the same issue since the did “verify the issue” yet still deemed it as normal.

CUSTOMER STATES TOUCH SCREEN GETS EXTREMELY HOT TO TOUCH AND BEHIND SCREEN. VERIFIED CONCERN SCREEN IS VERY HOT WHILE IN USE. RAN DDA CODE TESTED FOUND NO DTCS. RAN FAULT AND BREAKDOWN TO RUN PIVI HEALTH CHECK AND PASSED. CHECK IDMA FOR SOFTWARE LEVEL AND PASSED. PERFORMED PIVI RESET AND STILL SAME ISSUE. R/R IDMA SCREEN AND CHECK ALL APIX CONNECTIONS ARE TIGHT AND SECURE.COMPARED TEMP OF SCREEN TO 2 OTHER 2025 460S AND FOUND AFTER VEHICLE WARMS UP SCREENS GET SAME TEMP STARTED TA. WAS TOLD TEMP IS NORMAL OPERATION OF PIVI TOUCH SCREENS.

4) Phone charger was working normally, no faults.

Walking up and pressing the button on the door handle works immediately about 60% of the time for me as well. Otherwise I have to wait maybe 5 seconds, and then it recognizes that I'm there. I have a brand new battery. Range Rover quirk.

carplay disconnects occasionally as well. did not reconnect, even after shutting off the engine and restarting it, until I parked it, left and came back a few hours later.

I’ve had car play connection issues a few times but eventually get it to work again.

The 550e I test drove also wouldn’t switch back to EV mode after switching out which was one of the reasons I didn’t get the PHEV. Full disclosure often I wish I had the capability though!
