Tow bar - Westfalia?

Hi folks

Picked up my new (old) 2010 L322 5.0L SC Autobiog today. Black on ivory.
Very happy with it :)
Smells a bit like an ‘old car’ right now, but I’ll put some Gliptone GT11 on the seats over the next few days which should fix things.
Got a question on the tow bar though. It says on the build sheet that it was tow bar prepared from the factory, but whereas I can see the tow bar coupler, the dealer I bought it from had no idea about the location of the detachable swan neck.
Is this a Westfalia? If so, do I just need any old Westfalia swan neck, or are these things model specific?
I have a Receiver Hitch still from a previous L322 which I know will fit, but these are illegal in the UK for some unknown reason.
As such I need to buy something that I can use to tow stuff :)

Odd that a receiver hitch is illegal. That’s what’s supplied with the Westphalia towbar on Australian-delivered L322.

I’ve lived in Canada, Australia & the USA and have used a receiver hitch on my RR in every country.

I spoke to Westfalia themselves yesterday & they said that in the UK all vehicles that were first registered after August 98 must have a type approved 94/20 EC towbar. Receiver hitches apparently do not carry this type approval certification.

He went on to say that it’s not necessarily illegal to use one, but without the type approval you’ll never find one on sale in a shop in the UK.

No worries I thought - I brought one with me from the US - but then I realised it has a 2” ball & over here they have 50mm. Seems like a small difference, but my trailer won’t fit securely on a 2” ball…

Why is the UK always so bloody difficult!!

Got a friend with a lathe to take 2mm off the 2" ball?
