Sorry to here about your breakdown, hope its just the shift leaver and is a quick fix. Some cars have all the bad luck.

I had the same issue and they just replaced the shifter. It was weird that the trigger button broke.

My latest issue is that my t- case is leaking. I effin love this truck. Lol

Did LR iron out the kinks with the 2015 model ?

Based on my experience with a 2015 RR owned since 1/24/15 and reading the forums, I would say no. Lots of new RR and RRS at the dealer's service bays yesterday and today.

I have a '15 RRS that took delivery on 12/15/14 and I've had a list of problems. I also experienced a few times when using the auto-start stop feature the engine shut off and I had to restart the car. Also another time my car was on Drive, but I could not accelerate, the engine would rev like it was on neutral, I had to put in park and then back to drive. Dealer claimed to have updated the software, so hopefully it fixed the issue. My driver's electric seat was wired incorrectly at the factory and did not function correctly. Check engine light kept coming on and they had to replace a harness. Also my left bixenon headlight broke after a week and they also had to replace with a brand new unit. So definitely there are still many issues with LR in the '15 also.

Might be time to get rid of the truck now. It's been over a year. That's about long enough for me. What should I get next? Actually considering a downgrade into a civilian car. I drive a total of 4 miles each day and it just doesn't warrant a $100k spend. I figure while resale is still hot ...

I'm looking at one of these... I REALLY want one. They price in the low-60s, but can be had off the lot for mid-50s. Now that's a lot of truck for the money. And it's the "real deal." Now I just need to face a reality of leaving the Land Rover brand for good. And that somewhat breaks my heart. But I think the good-times are over for Land Rover. At least for me. We'll see... I need some enabling.

Trez, with such few miles, you would be a candidate for a Tesla ... not that much cheaper though. Good size sedan with quite bit of cargo room and they have now added features it was missing for a car in that price range, such as adaptive cruise control. I'm just not ready for electric and the Model X "suv" looks so plain and is taking way too long to be released.

I know this is not the right thread or even forum for this, but I don't think I'm cut out for electric motors. I need the V8 sound. Although I might just buy a P85D for a year or so.

 

Dealer says the shifter needs to be replaced
And the part won't be available for another 5 days
Stuck with a couple year old LR2 as a loaner.
Why won't the Germans make an equally good looking SUV with a third row so I can just trade this thing in !

I followed a White i8 on the way home tonight, the first real one I've seen....now I want one.

Look at one at close quaters you might change your mind considering the price.

sooo I know of two in SF, (i8s) one blue, one white (I am sure there are more). One is a friend of mine. I think that they look far better in person. If the Telsa, volt, et al. sounds and feel like the future, the i8 looks like the future. They stand out from *everything*. We had a recent event with ~20 cars, 7 of them were Teslas. One i8. 4RRs of various flavors. Seriously. it was that homogenous.

My buddy tells me that in every way *but* the unique exterior, his i8 is worse car than his Tesla (which he still has). Worse interior room. Worse trunk space. Even worse to drive. (he has the p85d).

I'm test driving the P85D this Saturday. I really doubt I'm going to be sold, but we'll see. I look at the i8 as a concept car. It'll be years before BMW or MB make good hybrid/electric cars that make sense to guys like us.

Heck Trez, all you ned is a skateboard if you only drive 2.5 miles to work everyday. Have you considered moving a half hour away or so?

I would imagine most people are sold with just one test drive of the P85D
And it can seat more people than a full size RR

I have to say that I'm pretty excited about the test drive. I don't know if they're going to let me open her up or not. The additional seating is pretty neat but looks/seems even more useless than the rrs 5+2. I love the over-the-air-update idea, but then again, I don't know how much control I want Elon to have over my personal car. I could see that if you don't pay your payments, one day he'll have your car drive itself back to Tesla for repo.

 

THIS just happened to me today. I just had my 2014 RRS towed to the dealer for the same problem. I was off-roading today and luckily only 4mi off the pavement. The shifter trigger was just loose (i.e. no spring resistance). The dash-board kept telling me to push the trigger.

While waiting for the tow vehicle, I tried prying the trigger button off but could not pop it out. I'm sure that I could have made an emergency contact and got moving again. I'm assuming the dealer will just have to replace the shifter module... looks like a $600 part...OUCH.

I have always been wary of the shift-by-wire tech for this exact reason. I wish I could tell you other guys that there were noticeable warning signs.
