I found this latch, door and compartment to store something very specific obviously in the tailgate. What is it for?

I have no clue what this storage can be used for, umbrella or triangle warning sign that is foldable, maybe?

Should be for the Warning Triangle I Believe.

That, above, the warning triangle. I believe the Euro vehicles are required to have them, so that is there storage spot.

Maybe you could put some hooch/bourbon/scotch in there for "emergencies"....
