Removing the resonator...should I?

I want to beef up my exhaust sound for my RRS SC.

Before I decide on which exhaust to order would anybody suggest removing the resonator as a cheaper and better option?

I removed resonator 7, the big one underneath the truck, on my previous '08 HSE and while it sounded good it DID drone on the highway, specifically around 70 mph if I remember correctly. I could shift it down a gear or drive slower to eliminate it, but it was there. It eventually bothered me so much that I put the resonator back on.

From what I've read, putting an x-pape in it's place would eliminate the drone and some of the backfire that goes with it. I had the resonator replaced with straight pipes before switching back.

Also, you won't get any kind of dashboard lights if you remove the resonator.

Do it. I'm considering the same. What's the worst that can happen?

Just got this done - WHOA. Sounds like a proper V8 should sound. For comparison, i'd compare it to how an ML63 AMG sounds, complete with the crackling/popping sound when releasing the foot off the accelerator after the heavy grumble.

Resonator was removed and a (custom, my Indy didn't have any on hand) straight pipe was put in place. $300CAD, but well worth it.

And, no drone unless >2500RPM.

Hey guys, wanted to update this thread with a video I made for you guys. Unfortunately, I got off on the wrong foot with some of you on the forum and came off as spammy. I apologize once again and want to move forward in a more beneficial and helpful way. So I'd like to share this video of my 2012 Range Rover Sport HSE to highlight the #7 delete. It sounds amazing to me and for those considering the mod, I hope this video helps! I burned through a lot of gas putting this together for you guys but at least I had a huge smile on my face throughout. Feel free to ask me any questions regarding the mod, I would be more than happy to help!
Video starts out with startup, then interior sound then exterior sound. I will also be making another video reviewing the mod, giving my opinions on it, how it is living with it, likes and dislikes, etc. in the future. For those who would rather hear the car and not me, this one is for you! (The driving becomes more spirited as the video goes on!)

It is pretty loud. I can definitely see why some people would not want it that loud. I however, like it. There was no external mic from the video. For the interior part, I mounted my camera on the sunroof glass and the sound came from it's internal mic. And for the outside part, the camera was mounted on the rear windshield, outside the car.

After having the resonator delete and the 2 rear mufflera deleted.. I recommend leaving the 2 rear mufflers.. I have a very noticeable drone right around 40-55 mph. I think leaving those 2 rear mufflers would nullify that but still give you the sound from acceleration that you are looking for..

Good question. It's been a while since i have read some of these posts. Take a look through this whole post. It may have some answers. Also do a search to see if other posts have input.

After having this mod done for a while and loving the sound. I think I will try and tinker with the system a bit more. I removed the #7 resonator and put two straight pipes in place. I think I loss some low end torque but gained some power in the top end (butt dyno). This is probably because there was some exhaust scavenging due to the #7 resonator that I lost when I eliminated it. Since I prefer the power lower down rather than higher up, I will probably try and put an x pipe where the two straight pipes are to achieve some more exhaust scavenging.
