I might sound like a neophyte.....and my dealer didn't tell me......and I did look in the owner's manual....but when I start the vehicle and the computer on the truck says "recording started".....who is recording what...and how do I retrieve it.

Thanks for reading.

That is a complicated loaded question. Telematics in any modern car can record everything, from your driving habits, trips, number of times you press the brakes and how hard you press them, how you accelerate from a stop, how fast you drive above posted speed limits and on and on... Then they turn around and sell this data to insurance companies, and you know how insurance companies love this data and what they do with it....
I do not think there is a sure way to retrieve this data as a consumer. I personally click "do not share" on anything in every app but I do not think that protects me in any way.

Do you have a camera installed? To the right of the rear mirror on the upper windscreen? I do and that's exactly what my camera tells me. Useful information. If you have a camera, follow the manual and it is quite easy to retrieve the recorded information both visual and audio.

Beeping over bumps is different. That’s the shock sensor, which can be tamed by reducing the sensitivity setting. I dropped mine to low for just that reason. It still talks to me in a British accent upon entry, which I appreciate, because sometimes it says Parking events recorded. So I know to review the footage, under the right circumstances.
