I’ve heard quite a few stories even from Tesla owners that they have to wait in line to charge up their EV on long road trips. And a lot of them are broken down and some have gotten stranded after their “planned” EV charge stop didn’t work out. Not worth it yet, IMO. In 10 years maybe but not now.
again ,not saying your wrong but I would really take that with a grain of salt these days. Yes on a major holiday -there could be some log jam. But when a major hurricane hits and theres a run on gas every few years it’s the same.

most charging networks have gotten a lot better in the US. Occasionally you will have a broken charger just like an out of service gas pump. The great thing is you can tell on your nav or app if a certain location has open/used chargers / if they are in service or offline /what the charging rate is and what its current charging rate average is showing. You don’t know that with a gas pump.

again really it’s come down to charging speeds. 20 min for 100 miles on my lighting is low because of how inefficient it is compared to a model 3 or Teslas. But other then that I have never been in an area I was panicking looking for a charger and have only had to wait a handful of times for 20 minutes. Most people are very kind and don’t hog the charger and stop at 80-90% because the last 10% takes the longest
 
I had an Audi Etron for 3 years prior to buying my first RR. For my usage pattern and based on where I live, the Audi was useful only for in-town driving. I put in 15000 miles in 3 years on that Audi, I have driven almost 10,000 miles in 5 months with the RR. I also manage to do almost all my in-town driving purely on electric (at a measurably lower energy efficiency than my prior EV).

I would buy the RR EV (or any other, for that matter) when ALL of the following conditions are fulfilled

1) I am able to go 350 miles at highway speeds in cold weather before I need to refuel (note the qualifiers of speed, temperature)
2) I am able to refuel without deviating from my route, and when I stop for lunch or coffee where at a place of my choosing (not where my nav directs me to charge my car)
3) I am able to drive up to a charger, and not have to wait. I'm able to initiate the charge session by simply tapping my card on the charger. The charger works without drama and fills up my car to 100% in 10 minutes or less.

Layman's terms: every gas pump is 3-4 times more effective at transferring energy than the fastest EV chargers available today. There are a zillion gas pumps all over the country, many in remote spots. I would like EVs to be pervasive, but it's a long way from there.

If I was only driving within a 100 mile distance of where I stay, I would have kept my EV.
 
I would not want to take an EV on an extended trip. EVs are great if you commute locally and have a place to charge it overnight. Our infrastructure is not ready yet for EVs to replace ICE.
And that was what made me get rid of my Etron. We were taking our other vehicle everywhere.
 
This would be an ideal next vehicle for me next summer if it leases reasonably. Only charge at home and longest commute 80 miles in a day.

Doesn’t need to be like an EQ fire sale but not wanting to pay like $2500 a month.

However since it’s JLR I expect the lease offers to be horrible.
