Hi guys anyone use a radar detector in their rr ? I just picked up my 23 autobiography lwb and installed my v1 gen2 and for some reason, not sure if it’s in my head or not , I feel like it’s not working right. Areas where I always get false alarms I don’t get anymore and honestly I don’t think it’s gone off once in the two days I had it. Does the windshield have something that blocks the radar frequencies from getting through ? I don’t have the heated windshield.

Success! Instructions and Amazon.com: Hydencamm Upgraded Mirror Plug Wire Tap Radar Detector Hardwire Power Cord Kit 16" suggested above worked with the exception of where I had to tap into to get power to the unit. Turns out I reverted back to the wire colors I used for my L320 RRS - black to black and red to green/white. Not sure if this is exact model specific, or if possibly the mirror tap cable is wired incorrectly into the RJ11 (I'd bet on that). Nevertheless the wire is in fact super thin when passed between plastic and glass, and I have almost no wire showing with the Valentine 1 Gen 2 mounted high on the driver side to keep it in the solar reflective cutout.

I started by removing the mirror shroud. It should be noted that there is a tiny recess about halfway up the middle of the shroud that can fit the flat edge of an eyeglass screwdriver to pry the plastic pieces apart without damaging the finish. Once separated, they pull out sideways, and there is a small clip towards the top of the plastic that needs to be released by pulling the plastic parts to the left and right.

Once at this stage, I would recommend gently pulling outward on the bottom edge of the plastic shield above the mirror. This moves it away from the windshield just enough to push the tap wire underneath to hide it. Leave about 2 inches of the wire out adjacent to the radar detector position (the RJ11 end). the rest can be pulled through to where the mirror tap goes.

As above, release the grey plug, and, in my case, wire black to black and red to green/white. Voila!

Pictures below. Thanks to all for the great advice!

I just did this, and experienced the same as you. I do know my wires were different colored than what you have pictured for my 2023. There were a couple wires that had power for a bit, but one eventually would go out with the ignition off. I used an electric circuit tester to problem solve: Circuit Tester

Sorry, I did not take any pictures, and I really do not want to open the bracket up again risking a broken tab.

Finally got around to doing this on my 2025 so thanks to this thread and those involved.

I had installed a fitcamx already so it was a little tricky but it’s still black to black and red to brown. I had two brown wires on the left, it’s the top one. The black is two over on the top row.

I used the clip attachment for the V2 into the headliner, so the passenger visor can still be used. I’ll have to test if the rear radar is compromised by the visor being in the way.
