That's crazy. On my 461 First Edition 530 I routinely get 16-19 around town. If I'm on a lonely country road it's at 20 consistently.

I drive it exclusively in dynamic mode. It gets you to higher revs quicker with less throttle input which lands you in a high gear where you need to be.

Pulling my car trailer on the highway - then I'm stuck at 11 all day long.

 

24 ATB V8 SWB: first 1100mls: 20-21mpg highway, around town 15-17mpg, relaxed driving. If heavier foot/dynamic mode shave 2-3mpg on this.

 

What is your definition of City driving ? Is it NYC traffic or some small town traffic ?
I drive in NYC and my P400 mpg about 15-16. My 8 cyl Audi A8 gets no more than 12mpg in the city driving.

 

I agree with you on the mpg for the P400. My ‘23 gets around 16 ( no dynamic mode) for in town driving. I’m surprised a V-8 is getting the same.

Reviving this old thread. Getting 8-11 mpg city, 10-14 mpg highway (including downhill highway)

very easy on the gas. Do have the high end sound system. Always have the AC on, set to around 68F.

Your Nitto tires are probably the reason for your gas mileage. 14 mpg on the highway is not good.

 

'25 P530 here. These are crazy low! We live in the country with 80% rural highway driving. I regularly see 26 mpg with a 50 mph average speed on fillups.
Granted, I do a lot of lift & coast instead of heavy braking, but I do use Dynamic mode almost exclusively.
Agreed the Nittos can kill mileage, but that's a lot.

 

I don’t have a P530 but had X7 M60i which has the same engine and most of my driving around home is traffic lights, stop signs etc with average speed of around 15-20mph. I got 8-12mpg tops! This is the reason I went with P400. Got sick of having to refill the tank so frequently and won't get another V8 as my daily. Also mpg will get worse during winter so brace for that.

 

I think the stop and go is definitely getting me too. Though the downhill highway at 14mpg is pretty bad too lol

 

I see I replied a year and a half ago on the P400 I owned. Now have the 530 and the gas mileage is around 14 mpg with city driving but not a lot of stop and go. Both cars have 23” wheels. Not sure that matters?

 

i have a 530 and 400, both lwb - the gas milage seems to be about the same, which is odd. both well under 20mpg, mixed driving.

P400 SWB: We did a 250 miles road trip the other day and drove around 80-90mph. Returned solid 25.5mpg during that trip.

Tip: It would be good if people share their average speed along with their mpg. It helps with comparing apple to apple.

 

Whenever I go fast. 80-95 mph, my mpg drops to about 20-20.5 mpg, but when I'm driving slower, 45-75, I'm doing 21-22 mpg.

I track every fill-up with 'Fuelly'.

I get between 26 - 29 mpg on the highway at average speeds of 65-75 mpg (29 mpg at 65). I’ve done 3 long distance trips so I have a fair amount of data. This is with a fully discharged battery because I don’t get to charge during trips.

City driving is almost entirely in EV mode.

 

I went and pulled out my driving data from InControl, and filtered for long trips and removed anything that started from home. This is the chart: essentially P400 MPG for highway driving.

This is the ironic part about getting a V8 in the RR. You can get from A->B faster, but you'll have to spend more time filling up and more time & money getting it serviced (e.g. 2 more spark plugs).

 

I am not sure about getting A to B faster is an advantage of V8. Its not like the other powertrain cannot go fast lol I personally not gonna go back to V8 just because how frequently you have to visit the gas station if you drive mostly at speeds below 20-30 mph (i.e. heavy urban driving).

 

Just finished a 250 mile loop through and around Glacier Ntl Park. 27.1 mpg, 47 mph.
70 on the highway going East around the park, 35- 40 mph coming back over Going to the Sun Rd.

I don’t think the AC Music etc would have any measurable effect on mpg. I’m in Texas myself, mostly the AC is on, rarely heat. I have the heavier seats, full size spare etc as well.

The tires for sure have an effect. Did you update to heavier rims?

I've got '22 rims, that's what it came with. the tires are definitely impacting the MPG, but also, it wasn't that great to begin with. weird. I'm encouraged by what you all are getting, wish there was a way to get my MPG up a little too.

I’d say there’s lot of hills and what not here, but by that token, the down hill freeway should do better than 14 mpg. Maybe there’s something wrong with my car. Maybe some module needs an update

 

Your mpg is really in line with what I’d expect for a SUV with non-hybrid V8 engine. Could it be that the mild hybrid functionality is compromised? This would be a soft failure, and a drop in mpg would be the only indicator.

 

Since you have detailed hand recorded data, could you spot check one of your fillups as recorded by Fuelie vs what Incontrol shows? I’m assuming InControl is accurate but who knows??

 

I'm sorry but how does one pull data from InControl?

 

The steps on a browser:

1. Go to My Land Rover InControl and log in (same credentials you use in the car screen)
2. Click on 'VIEW ALL JOURNEYS'
3. If necessary modify the dates in 'Show Journey From XXX to YYY' and press search. You will see a table of journeys that show From address, Start Time, To address, Arrival Time, Duration and Distance.
4. Each journey is from the time you start the engine to when you stop the engine. If you click on a single journey you will see a map of what route you took and more detailed data. It's actually a bit concerning how much data is gathered.
5. Select the journeys you care about by clicking the box on the left of 'From'. In your case - you would need to look at your fuelie log to see the date & time of two fuel stops and select all the journeys in between
6. Scroll down to the bottom of the table and click 'EXPORT SELECTED' and you will get a download of a spreadsheet. This will have the detailed data of all the journeys you selected.
7. See post #22 in this thread - I created that plot by pulling out all my journeys from the time the car was delivered, filtered out only the ones that are longer than 30 minutes and average speed of 50 MPH or faster, to plot highway MPG. I assumed the InControl measurement of MPG is correct - but that's not necessarily true.

I have a 25 p400 on the 22s all season oem tires, and from ny to nc 70mph I see 27 mpg, and around town long island 21 ,I drive very easy and try and keep my driving 95 pct or better according to the vehicle tracker and thats in comfort mode because whenever I try eco mode the car boots me out after 20 minutes or so and puts me in auto mode the dealership said thats normal not sure if it's true
