I can only comment on the engine, meridian 3D and Stormer handling pack. I currently have a P530 but had two previous Sports with the straight 6 engine.

First, without exception - get yourself the highest specification stereo that you can order. If it's 3D - please get that as the more basic Meridian is not worth the price.

Engine - the fresh design - straight 6 from Land Rover is probably the best modern motor that they have ever designed and built. Hands down it is silky smooth, very powerful with good torque very low down in the rev range. Gets very good gas mileage and is very reliable. It doesn't burn any oil, and best of all - it loves to rev. The active exhaust is usually active when you have the driving mode set to "Dynamic."

Stormer Pack:

If it's available - I argue that this is the best option you can have on this vehicle. Completely changes its agility, turn in sharpness, and highway stability. Parking maneuvers and navigating tight areas are a breeze. The 48v active sway bars give the vehicle a very secure feeling going through any turns and drastically decreases any body sway. I could basically drive the truck like I would a 911 without even thinking about the size of the vehicle or it's ability to deliver. Off road it's like cheating.

I believe that there has been no downgrade in power of the ICE, I think they have just limited the gross of the ICE and the EV to 460 so they can sell the 550 for more. When the battery is empty there is always a little bit of EV left due to regen braking so when you really need everything, its all there. In everyday driving on EV only, the 215 HP is plenty. I have had 90mph out of EV only.

On ICE alone its quite enough power. I get 29-30 mpg (Imp) when the battery is drained. My usage means I am on EV only for half my miles, so overall I get 60mpg and I get overnight Electric at 9.05p (UK) per kWhr and I get about 1.5m/kWhr; usage and temperature dependant.

I agree that the ICE is really nice. When I collected the car from the factory, I was told in passing that the Ingenium short engine is actually built in Germany and dressed in the UK. When I questioned whether Ingenium engines were really a re-engineered BMW engines in disguise, it wasn't denied. JLR and BMW are very close in powertrain usage. The V8s are publicly BMW.

I have had no issues at all with the car apart from the 2 minor software issues I mentioned on your other thread. I think they have done a bunch of little engineering changes on the 24 MY cars to fix the 23 MY teething issues. I do not have any of the problems early cars have had with wind noise or bad fitting fuel flaps. I am keeping my fingers crossed though.

The only change that concerned me was the removal of the knobs for heating and the drive mode. In reality its no problem and I can compare as my wife has the old system on her Evoque. There is a small benefit too and that is expanse of black finish doesn't get finger marks as there is no need to put your fingers there!

As others have said, the 3D Meridian is really good.

I have driven a couple of cars with the Stormer pack which mine does not have, but I can't say I feel that something really important is missing. For parking I find the self park feature actually works.

 

Just looking at your post again. If you pull the gearlever back again into sport, the ICE starts immediately.

Also the USB ports in the front are below the cupholders

Ok, so now I'm stranded with the wheel choice. I'm thinking about the Giola Green color, with black / grey rims. What size should I take, considering the fact that I really hate rim damage due to curbs and there will be, albeit occasionally, some (mild) off-roading. The very sporty 23 inch wheels are too big for that in my opinion. Would 21 inch be ok?

Further: is the Clear Sight mirror of (much) added value? The boot of the car is rarely filled to the top.

Please share your opinion so the quality of mine might be better...

 

I have Giola Green L461 and colour is stunning. I decided against 23” wheels and went for the 22” with diamond cut on grey. I think they look great with plenty of sidewall and very comfortable.

I also have clear sight and wouldn’t be without it now - absolutely love it. I have heard though that if you have some eyesight issues it can be strange as focal length is different than if it was a mirror (can always switch between the two though)

I noted the following, maybe this will be of help for others.

20 inch wheels are 255/50/R20. That means 127,55 MM of sidewall = 5 inch;
21 inch wheels are 275/45/R21. That means 123,765 MM of sidewall = 4,8 inch;
22 inch wheels are 275/40/R22. That means 70 mm (!) of sidewall = 2,75 inch.

I like the fact that the tire is a bit wider. It will "carry" better through terrain (gives a wider footprint) and provide more traction on the road. 21 inch provides that. 22 inch would mean that I would (only) have 70 mm of sidewall, but no further benefit when it comes to grip (if will be less wobbly). Too bad they look stunning. For me, 70 mm not really enough. 23 inch wheels are out of the question, looking at the limited sidewall of them.

If this is for the new RRS the tire sizes are 275/55R20, 275/50R21, and 285/45R22 etc. - a true 32". Apologize in advance if I missed something.

 

Yes, it is. These sizes make more sense indeed; mm of sidewall go from 151,25 (20 inch) to 137,5 (21 inch) to 128,25 (22 inch) then. In that case, I should be ok with 22 inch as well.

 

After buying this gen of RR, I find it very uncomfortable to drive my other cars that don't the Clear Sight.

I'm currently looking for an aftermarket option to fit my other vehicles with a rear view mirror with camera

I never saw a Giola Green car. To be on the safe side: I went for (all) black (outside and inside), just now. 21 inch wheels. I also drove one without the Stormer pack: I didn't really notice the change, te be honest. So I skipped that. The "clear sight" messes with my eyes; didn't take that option either.

Unclear to me is what the delivery time exactly is. Will keep you posted!

17 hours have passed since I ordered the Range Rover. I changed the order, I wanted Giola Green and went for the fixed sunroof after all (because of the reduced wind noise)...

 

I am sure it won't be your last change either. I changed mine 3 times plus the change they made for me with the update to MY 24

 

I ordered a Sport Dynamic SE P460e last November. Have changed it 3 times ending up with white with Caraway upholstery unfortunately with ebony backs. Would have preferred all Caraway but not available on this model here in Australia. Also Ebony Caraway roof lining at extra cost. Didn't go for the Meridian upgrade. Really enjoying the base version which I have in my 22 Defender. Not expecting it to be delivered here in Australia till late this year. Is the sliding roof noisy? I didn't notice that when I drove the demonstrator. Coming from an SDV8 Sport. Has been a great car for me with probably the best engine ever put in a Landrover.

 

Noisy us a big word, I think. But there are more panels / lines on the roof with a sliding one. Taking into account I never used it in my previous cars, I would opt for the big panoramic roof.

 

I can only speak to the 460 but with the shutter in front of the pano roof there is less noise…
as to the fuel consumption: with the regular RR and normal driving we do 1 on 9 when no electricity. With electric much much better. So far on 1400 KMS we used 1 on 25 on average. Engine is smooth, but even in sports mode you’ll hardly hear anything…

driving it like A 911, i wouldn’t say. Even the sport is quite heavy. I have a 991.1 4 gts, trust, it drives differently…

 

So, another week, another update, some changes were made:

• Went for the Dynamic SE, primarily because the S and SE trim had "plasic black" trim bumpers. Those might fade and become grey in the future;
• Skipped the pano roof. I know it might be bad for resale value, but I just don't see the point. I would hate any wind noise coming from the roof. Even something like "added weight" (30 kg on a 2700 kg car) is relevant for my decision. Also: an almost 2 m2 glass panel will mess with the audio and all (other) noises in a car, since glass reflects sounds. I must say: this is still something I might pivot on;
• Went for Caraway interior (which is an option from SE trim), also to compensate the fact that it will be darker in the car without pano roof;
• Added digital led.

Delivery is already planned (within 5 / 6 months from order date!).

 

Love my Caraway interior. I would get the pano roof for the light particularly if you have black roof liner (I have the black Alcantara liner).

Yes, it certainly does. I'm a bit afraid however that the black lower panels will become a bit grey over time...

 

One month ahead in time:

• In doubt about Giola Green or Carpathian grey;
• Think I will opt for / stay with 21 Inch;
• Think I will go for pano roof;
• In doubt about Stormer handling pack: my current car has a 11,8 m turning circle. I think that is about the limit for comfortable driving. 12,5 m without stormer is quite a big turn. 10,90 would be nice. 1,5 meters IS a big deal. I just hope I don't get issues with that pack on the long run (let's say 8 years from now), if I will go for it.

 

So, in the end, this was my configuration:
