Done a search but cant find the answer I am looking for.

My car is having problems (see other posts!) with revs hunting a low speeds (30mph) and on slight load (up slight hills).

I have just got a code reader and its showing :

P0036
P0056

From google, it seems these codes relate to the post cat O2 sensors?

Is that right?

Anyone care to point me in the right direciton on this one?!

Thanks guys.

Hi,

I think the codes are not LR specific as they start p00.

Land rover specific codes:
http://www.robisonservice.com/servicedep/rover_obd2.asp

So generic codes would read:

P0034 Turbo Charger Bypass Valve Control Circuit Low
P0035 Turbo Charger Bypass Valve Control Circuit High
P0036 HO2S Heater Control C ircuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0037 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0038 HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0039 Turbo/Super Charger Bypass Valve Control Circuit Range/Performance
P0040 O2 Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 1 Sensor 1/ Bank 2 Sensor 1
P0041 O2 Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 1 Sensor 2/ Bank 2 Sensor 2
P0042 HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0043 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0044 HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0045 Turbo/Super Charger Boost Control Solenoid Circuit/Open
P0046 Turbo/Super Charger Boost Control Solenoid Circuit Range/Performance
P0047 Turbo/Super Charger Boost Control Solenoid Circuit Low
P0048 Turbo/Super Charger Boost Control Solenoid Circuit High
P0049 Turbo/Super Charger Turbine Overspeed
P0050 HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0051 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0052 HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0053 HO2S Heater Resistance (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0054 HO2S Heater Resistance (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0055 HO2S Heater Resistance (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0056 HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
P0057 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
P0058 HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

If you read p0136 and p0156 then you are looking at the o2 sensors as shown below:

P0134 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0136 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0137 O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0139 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0140 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0142 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0143 O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0144 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0145 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0146 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0147 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 3)
P0150 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0151 O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0152 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0153 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0154 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0155 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0156 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
P0157 O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
P0158 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

Any help?

Yep thanks, also getting "Sensor 1 Bank 1 Not Present" when I do an O2 sensor scan.

Which is odd as both the error codes relate to the second sensor on both banks...???

Have you visually inspected the O2 sensors? In addition to fault errors if you are receiving an error that one is not even there I would lean towards harness damage. I suppose it is possible that they could have simply come loose as well. I would be checking for burned or chafed wiring and connection issues before getting too far.

Yeah had a quick look the other day, wiring looked ok - they look like the OE items (2003 car) so might be worth pulling them out and having a look.
Will get back under the car tomorrow and take a better look at the wiring as it is quite hard to see.

Out of interest - would this be causing my problem do you think.. or is it another wild goose chase!

A friend's O2 sensor failed whilst on holiday which meant the car wouldnt rev above idle (actually now my car) replaced that and all was fine.

Update..

I decided to change the rear O2 sensors.... bad move!
The front ones had previously come out with out so much as a bead of sweat..
The rears... cracked - turned about 1/4 turn and promptly stuck!
After much shouting and :crybaby2: they eventually came out... but the threads in the exhaust are fuggered!

Will now have to drop the entire system off the car (easy eh!) and try and tap out a new thread.

Anyone else had this problem? The o2 sensors looked factory - so well over 7 years old now.

New o2 sensors on order for tomorrow.

After all this the problem best be solved with all this faffing about!!

Good plan. I do have a welder. Well, I have a man that can weld... IYSWIM! :thumb:
Will give the local motor factors a call in the am to see if they can bring a couple of those rings with them. I assume thats a common problem then!
