No lights in MOST fiber optic system plugs, stereo issues

Unfortunately I have had issue after issue with my 2007 RR.

Initially:

Stereo "dead," land rover locked screen. Installed MOST fiber optic loop device in place of Nokia bluetooth unit along with new amplifier. SOUND! But still land rover screen locked. Worked for a month or so with good sound.

Now, flashing orange light is back on volume knob. Still land rover screen locked. BUT, now, in the driver side trunk, when I unplug the connection to the nav unit, amplifier, Nokia unit, etc: NO ORANGE LIGHTS in the MOST fiber optic cables.

What is the most common culprit of this? I am fairly well versed in this system now, unfortunately! Is this a "head unit" problem? How do I troubleshoot this, when the MOST fiber optic cables are all "dead?" I don't think I can bypass any units when the cables don't make any "light."

Thanks so much.

I did the jumper test thing with the Range Rover BMW fiber optic jumper and it worked right off.
WMYCONGCONG 2 PCS Fiber MOST Optical Optic Loop Bypass Male Female Adapter for Benz Audi Mercedes BMW VW Porsche Is what I bought from amazon for $15.00 shipped to the door. way better than $500.-- driven to LR RR Stealer for faux service. to REFLASH my stuff or tell me I need a NEW ???? then charge to have that flashed as well.

This may at least point you in the correct direction....

The originating source of the required "red light" is the audio receiver, which sits behind the lower glovebox/fusebox area on later vehicles (I'm not certain about MY2007 but suspect it's in the same vicinity).

The unit has a couple of regular multiplug connectors and a connector hosting one pair of MOST loop lines.

If you remove the horizontal kick panel under the passenger side lower glovebox (with the footwell light) you should be able to locate the unit. On later models it's mounted vertically behind the fusebox, near the firewall. (I added a link to an eBay listing just for image reference purposes, below.)

Unplug the MOST connector and look to see if one of the two LED's within the now disconnected MOST output (from within the receiver) is glowing red. You may need a small mirror to see it. Low light conditions make this easier to see the red glow (or not), of course.

If there's no red glow, you should check to ensure you have +12v plus a ground to the unit. fibre optic lines.

Let us know if that helps.

Hi Rob,
I'm having the same problem with my 2010 RR HSE. Orange light flashing and RR logo on the LCD display. A couple of questions if I may:
1-What was the link you provided ? It is not there any longer.
2- There is a lot of reference to the Bluetooth module 8H22 10F845AA and it was the easiest module to get to. There was no light coming out of the fiber optics cable. So I would think the module up stream from it (which I don't know what that is) is not sending light or there is a break in the fiber optics line to it. So, based on your experience where do I start?

Thank you,--Ali

No guarantee that this has the MOST ring shown in the correct wired order but this is out of the Denso Navigation Trouble shooting manual. It's probably not because of the installed positions of the bits and peices, the CD changer is in the top of the glove box (in a vehicle with RSE anyway) the MOST master is the Integrated head unit that on an 06 is right under the touch screen, and on the 07 to 09 (maybe later) is located over the fuse panel behind the glove box. Everything else is in the back left corner of the boot.

It goes head unit (under glove box), screen, cd changer, iPod module (under driver seat), Bluetooth module, RSE module (if equipped), SiriusXM module, amp, and back to head unit. Go module to module.

Work your way backwards. Next step, remove bolts from driver seat and tilt it back onto the rear seat. Check the iPod module for light. If you have no light there, you’re going to want try the head unit under the glove box. If there is light there, you’re going to have to remove the lower glove box and loop the Cd changer as it will be your issue.

I just dealt with the same issue in my 2011 RRSC.

FWIW, the diagram referenced in the prior post is incorrect for the MY2010-2012 L322 vehicles but may be useful for someone trying to understand the MOST fibre optic concept.

The BCU, gateway and CD based navigation modules are relative carryovers from the changeover from BMW to FOMOCO ownership of LR and apply to earlier model year L322s.

thanks all. Is it odd that my system will turn on, then totally switch off if I hit a bump or something? It was doing this a few months ago, so I took it to the shop to look for loose wires or something, and nothing was found, and it started working consistently. Now, it's off again, but it'll pop on for a few moments, then turn off.

Does your Clarion CD changer actually work? Mine hasn't since I got the car, it was grayed out on the screen. FWIW: I'd look there. My 2011 was doing the exact same thing you're describing. The radio would sometimes work, but never consistently. It would work on some drives, and other drives it would crap out every few seconds or minutes. I found erratic red lights at the MOST connectors in the rear. Same thing under the driver seat at the iPod interface. Next thing up the chain is the CD changer. Sure enough, that was my problem. Disconnected the CD changer and looped the MOST lines and voila! Two days of music and no issues.

I had very similar problem in my L322 03 (BMW) model, make sure you've got good battery voltage.
I ended up having to change out the power Amp cause i thought it was the wiring in the back too that was stopping the radio intermittently.
I'm not saying this is your fix but similar symptoms.
