New KVM Module Programming via SDD issues

Hi all,

First of all I did do a search but unable to find anything to support me on this. I have 1 key and the KVM is locked. So I purchased a new KVM module from John Craddock and gone through the process of installing it to the car and then using the SDD V165 function to add a new module. I am using a clone Mongoose OBD module but it connects well and allows me to run all tests.

When I try and add the new module it fails and cannot add the module. I have tried everything I can but unable to add it. It shows unlocked but will not progress the first stage of initialising the module and preparing for keys.

Any suggestions or recommendations? I did notice when the car does a scan of the various buses on the car it does not show many of thos busses as active. I have also run GAP IID and it sees the module as unlocked but will not allow me to add keys.

Thanks all.

Firstly, I wouldn't trust a clone interface to do this, sometimes they just cannot achieve the data throughput required. Secondly, can you give more details, model year, which modules or Bus is not responding - and if they responded prior to exchanging the KVM - I presume you have a BSM connected whilst programming?
If there were non-responding modules prior to exchanging the KVM, then you need to address that issue first.

(edit, I thought JC was a used parts breaker, not new-wrote this for used parts)

Yep SDD won't program used/different modules at its own will. You have to trick it hah. You will probably need to remove pin 13 from your "mongoose", as well as update its software with genuine Drewtech and JLR drivers available to download from..drewtech and jlr. Also..V165 is no longer able to do online programming, you need to update to V166. You can download it directly from JLR as well.

Start the programming with the original module plugged in, after its ready to begin downloading files to the car you can connect your new/used module. Make sure to have both the laptop and car connected to mains power, the car needs <13v+<30amps to safely program.

V165 can still carry out online programming, as of today in GB anyway.
I'm not sure you're 'less than' is correct it needs to be 'greater than (>)' 12.5VDC and the Amperage required is subject to the load the vehicle presents, so unless you have the minimum JLR specification of a 50A BSU, pay careful attention to what is and isn't drawing current whilst programming.
If you have a diesel engined vehicle, always wait 10-15 seconds or so after cycling the ignition to on before continuing by clicking on 'OK' or the green tick, as appropriate.

Hm. My 3AM post got me on the greater than less than signs hahah

And for me, v165 stopped doing online programming about 2 weeks ago in the US.
