What look are you going for, and how are you going about it?

Land Rover offers, or at least did, a complete exterior styling package to convert to the HST look.

 

Yeah I considered HST look, they still sell both kits; HST 05-09 or Autobiography '10-up in Canada, but its not cheap by any stretch. So I did a mix and match of replica and genuine parts.

 

Process started...

 

I think they missed a spot there on the bumper!

 

Mouldings and bumpers painted...still waiting on the rear spoiler and tailpipes at this point - didn't use the one you see there.



The purple stripe is just a trick the painter pulled on me...

Tail Pipes installed...notice I put the stock rear spoiler back on for now.

 

Now onto the brakes...

Its a 2010+ autobiography replica bumper designed to fit 05-09, but its fiberglass so not to be used off road.

 

This is where I've got so far; Autobiography retro-fit spoiler and brake light installed, then I rebadged with all black lettering, and converted the entire truck interior and exterior bulbs to LED:

 

Still have lots to do:

- Paint the headlight internals black including the chrome trim
- install OEM style halo's
- Install backup camera
- Seatrock TSB

I'll answer all your questions tonight, but basically this "faux conversion" is a mix of replica and oem parts, mostly from the UK.

Only the front. The rear bumper and spoiler I threw in the garbage they didn't fit at all and were poorly made.

 

So here are the parts:

- The front bumper is a fibreglass piece from meduza. It fits pretty good but required a lot of work to get to look nice and finished.
- The rear bumper is genuine autobiography from LR.
- Rear tail lights are the Hawke replicas
- Rear spoiler, tailpipes, front grill, vents and rear parking sensors and loom are all autobiography replica parts from powerfuluk.com - very good to deal with btw.
- Black lettering I got from Ebay.

Yes same headlights. My HALO kit arrived today so I will be installing them and blacking out the lights hopefully soon.

 

Good job, were the calipers powdercoated or hand painted?

 

I masked off the calipers and spray painted them then added a brembo sticker from ebay. Cheap and easy and looks good.

I'm pretty impressed with the conversion and cleverness... well thought out, not a fortune, and looks really, really nice. Good job!

 

Pimped your ride!...some nice attention to detail with some cool parts but personally do feel it's all gone a bit to far!

Over here in the UK they are a very popular and relatively common sight on the road and the extreme conversions are getting a reputation of being owned by those of a dubious form of income!!

Nevertheless, that's just my slant on it...otherwise, a great job you have done there...certainly has some presence on the highway!

I'm surprised your comment wasn't flagged as being a troll. I'm not feeling this conversion either and I associate anything with pimp as negative and the car has pimp characteristics. I wouldn't have painted the body moldings, it just cheapens the car, but to each his own and if the op is happy that's all that matters. But the op did post up here for comments....
