I have had my 2025 Range Rover P400 now for a little over 4 weeks and I still cannot get the trunk to open most of the time when I do the kick. I did pay for the option when I ordered the Rover.

I tried kicking in the back and the sides and it only open sometimes. I checked the iGuide too and tried doing it the way it says to do it but it still does not work most of the time. How do y'all get it to open? Is this a common feature that does not work well? On my prior 2024 GLE 53 AMG Coupe and my prior 2021 GLE 350 I used the kick to open the trunk often and it would work without fail.

I kick about 4 inches behind the small round sensor at either rear bumper side, the kick taking about one-half second and perpendicular to bumper (not front-to-rear). This is done with key detected in my pocket.

There are places where underlying road or gutter makes the kick action less effective or ineffective in my experience. One location I park at frequently my kick only works on left side.

I thought it was inop even though I had ticked this option and enabled it "on" in the settings, until i saw a post on social media how to operate it. It's a very specific quick right sweep motion over a sensor on the back left side to the corner of the tailgate. Works sometimes, its just user error imo, has to be done perfectly.

Yeah mine has been hit or miss with more times missing. I think I will try what y'all suggest for it to open. I notice even though I have the key on me and I walk up the car, it sometimes does not detect the key, then I have to grab it and when I am starting to pull it out of my pocket, then the car detects the key and unlocks.

in my experience, the biggest factor with this is if the key is detected. I you jiggle the key as you walking up, it works more frequently. if the key isn't detected, it doesn't work. so I don't think it's the kick to open that's problematic as much as whether the key has jiggled enough to wake up and the car has detected the key
