Disconnect the small battery in the rear compartment. The only downside that I found is you get a little "Start/stop not available" orange symbol in the gauge cluster.

There isn’t a marine battery in the 16 and up l405. It’s just a capacitor. It’s in the same location on the right side of the trunk/boot. Unplug it and it’s disabled.

 

Is it confirmed that all 2016 do not have the second start / stop battery?

Reason I ask is that I had my dealer register a new Costco Interstate AGM battery to my ‘16 autobiography. I wanted to be proactive and replace b4 the original began to weaken. I also requested the start / stop eco battery be replaced. They said they confirmed that my car does not have the second battery. For some reason I thought it was later model years after ‘16, but I could be mistaken. Can anyone confirm?

 

 

 

Anyone know where this is on a 2020 RRS? It is not in the same location. I have a big black box on top of what looks like the main battery and these plugs are nowhere to be found. It's killing me! Weird thing is, it didn't work forever, I just thought I had to turn it on. Then one day after a dealer repair for something else, it just started working and now makes my life misery.

This is the plug that Mark is referring to. I can confirm that it works. I disconnected that plug in my 2016 HSE and the auto start/stop is no longer active...no error messaged on the dash either. Just unplug it and zip tie it down so that it doesn't flop around.

 

I know this is old thread but Thank You! My TD6 was driving me crazy and I went to disconnect second battery but it wasn't there, took some searching to find this post. Hard to find info on 2016+ cars so hopefully this post will help someone else.

 

I just looked up that part number for the module, GX7314B526AC.

It comes back as a "Misc Control Computer" and one site has it listed as a "Start/Stop Computer".

I find it amazing that just unplugging does not throw any codes... does it need to be plugged back in when car goes in for service?

 

I almost want to think that JLR designed it to be unplugged without throwing any codes because it's just a feature that not many people will want to have. However, I would plug it back in before going to the dealer for service just in case...

I was browsing YouTube to see videos about RR and found Russian channel with explanation about bunch of stuff for LR owners. Russian is my native language and it's much easier for me to understand everything about car's maintenance in Russian. So they explained how to disable Fasten Belt warning in RR 2016 and up. It's actually amazingly simple procedure.
When I tried it on my 2016 it worked like a charm, but the most interesting part is it looks like the start/stop system has been disabled by this procedure as well. I've been driving 2 days and the car never went off on any light. I found the same procedure in below video in English, but for Evoque. Just try and let us know if works on your truck as well.

How to permanently disable Intelligent Stop/Start

Long Time Lurker figured I would help out my fellow RR enthusiasts. My issues with Stop-Start are many, so I decided to disable the system. To permanently disable the Intelligent stop-start. Simply remove the right rear interior trim panel in the luggage area, where the fuse panel is located...

Someone needs to develop an adapter for that plug that tells software off is on and on is off. They make for my Stelvio. I will live with ck engine light. One less switch to screw with everytime I start the car. That is not going to save the planet. Consider the progress made in past 20yrs. A RR used to get like 14 mpg highway at 60-65. Now it gets 22-23 mpg in summer at 75-80!

 

So I basically unplugged it and then there’s some fan making noise in the pipe.

 

British programming is pretty retarded at times..........yes some dumbass fan , it probably thinks communication has failed from an overheat. I plugged it back in and it stopped immediately but the check engine code needs to be cleared. Based on location of that plug, a harness adapter as described should be pretty simple for aftermarket support but it seems LR only gets rods and stuff like that........thery could sell thousands of these cuz only a minority like auto start

 

My start stop function doesn’t work properly. Same time it work & most of the time it doesn’t
I don’t have the secondary BATT my car has electric capacity version.

I just did it in my 2018 LWB. My plug I pulled was this one

And here is the only "error" I get on the dash. And it only comes on when the engine would have normally shut off before. So not that big of a deal to me. It goes off once I start to drive again. No other issues
