I'm considering having the Deployable Side Steps installed on my '24 ATB. Has anyone considered this or had it installed? Dealer quotes are varying widely.

I purchased and installed the aftermarket deployable sidesteps on my ‘24 LWB and posted in the above thread. Total install time was around two hours and I was not rushing, did it by myself in my driveway without jacking the car, and am VERY happy with them. Additionally, I purchased an OEM control module and ordered an IID to code the vehicle to enable this option as factory installed. From what I’ve read, the difference between the aftermarket and factory (other than price) is that the factory has the ability to NOT deploy if desired (maybe parking too close to a curb or something), and the ability to have the steps remain deployed (not retract) when the doors are closed so you can easily access the roof. The aftermarket controller simply deploys when a door is opened and hides when both doors on that side are closed. I plan to post an update after I receive the IID tool.

Again, aftermarket was less than $1,000 delivered (delivery to a California took less than 7 days), took around two hours to install by myself at home, and I’m very happy with the result.

sidesteps install dealer anyway. even if you choos this option in configurator - car come without it from factory and dealer install it before you take a car. original steps with connection module start from 5000 usually.
china copy start from 1000 but you are to check - is it with connection module or not. both situation possible. china connector can work from the box, but some time no. and 99% with china module you will have bugs time to time (the door is open, but steps not come). and biggest china moduls not accept by pivi and you have no this option in pivi menu.
but possible middle way - china steps and original connect module. this way it will be as original for pivi and it appear app for steps control in menu. price will be same middle 2200-2500.
and one more - if you live in area with a lot of rains/snow/mood - automatic steps start to be one systematic headache. you need come 2 times per year clean it and oil in service. if not - they die 2-3 years.
last one - due to small traffic ancident you can recive much more damage for the car in compare without them )))
