Access to tow receiver?

Hi all, first post and first RR. Have a 2025 lwb that we bought several months ago and love it. Only thing missing was the tow package. Dealer agreed when purchasing that they would install the factory system. I just had it done and the car dropped off at our house. We are 1.5 hours from the dealership. Was checking out the work and to my surprise the hitch is tucked under the rear bumper cover by about a 1/4 inch. The light plug is completely covered. I called my SA and he said you have to remove the surround piece when you want to use the tow receiver. Is that correct? I’ve not been able to find something on this generation online showing someone using it. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

The wiring harness (light plug) pivots and folds down and back up when not in use. As far as the 1/4” overlap did you try and insert male hitch receiver, it looks like it would work and if the 1/4” overlap bothers you either dremel a bit off or have dealer do it for you.
I hope this helps

You should also have received a black “Range Rover” plug that is inserted in hitch receiver when not in use

That’s helpful to know the plug swings down for access.

I did put in a 3in hitch in the receiver to test. it will go it all the way in but the plastic from the surround presses against it. That means at a minimum the paint will wear off and it’s possible the pressure could crack the trim piece eventually.

Does that mean the service advisor told me incorrectly that you have to remove the trim piece to row? That seems unintuitive to me based on the design.

at the very least you should put some 3M clear paint film around the receiver area this protect against abrasions.
from the looks of things,
the hitch part might need a spacer to change the angle of the receiver socket.
