2024 ATB: no cold air, A/C not working. Heat wave.

I’m on my 2nd L460. My ‘23 would lose A/C randomly and blow hot air. I hoped for better performance with my ‘24.

All has been good for 16 months and 15,000 miles until last night. Coke A/C driving to dinner, no A/C driving home.

I need to drive 400 miles back home today in record heat, near 100. I’ve tried a lot of starting and restarting, called the dealer hoping for advice, etc. If I needed to go to the local dealer they said it would be a couple days

Does anyone have an idea of how to wake up the A/C compressor when glitching? I’m assuming that it is a glitch and not the system being low, considering my history with L460 A/C behavior.

Any input appreciated.

I may find myself hoping my excessive wind noise lets some air in 😎

Ouch, that is brutal and sorry about your AC issue in such weather...The only other thing I can think of would be to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if that might fix your issue. I am afraid that since it is blowing hot air, your refrigerant has leaked out. Try to see an AC specialist where you are; they might be able to fill up your refrigerant to get you home at least. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
One more question, which engine do you have?

Hmmm. and you are sure you do not have a phone button on your steering wheel?

To restart the Pivi Pro system on a 2024 P530, you need to hold down the phone button on the steering wheel until the touchscreen goes blank and the Land Rover logo appears. This will initiate a system reset.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Ensure safety: Make sure the vehicle is in Park (P) and that you have read and understood the relevant safety warnings and cautions before proceeding.
  2. Locate the phone button: On the steering wheel, find the button used for phone controls (answering/ending calls).
  3. Initiate the reset: Press and hold the phone button.
  4. Wait for the reset: Continue holding the button until the touchscreen goes completely black and then displays the Land Rover logo.
  5. Release the button: Once you see the Land Rover logo, release the button.
  6. System reboot: The system will now reboot, and the initial welcome screen will be displayed, indicating a successful reset.

I’m sorry. Somehow my eyes missed the button. Will try shortly. Thanks!

Update: after another hour of suffering I turned A/C back on for maybe tenth time, a terrible smell came from the vents, and cold air started blowing. Happy now. Hope it lasts. 300 miles to go. Fingers crossed

Update on mine…as mentioned before the A/C came on for the last few hours of my trip. I didn’t have time to go to dealer before my next little trip yesterday (3 hours). Worked fine and then last night after dinner it didn’t work. Tried repeatedly to turn on and off but no luck.

Fortunately this morning it came back on, again with the bad odor at startup.

Just need it to perform today and tomorrow on the ride home then off to the dealer.

Btw when I called the dealer service rep to ask if there was a trick their first suggestion was to talk to my salesman to learn how to operate the system. Infuriating. After 2 L460s over 2.5 years that was the reply. Somehow I kept myself from saying all the things in my head 😎

Sorry to hear that. That is not good especially with the recent heat wave we are experiencing in the US. Please let us know what the dealer finds out.

It's at the dealer now - I'll keep you guys posted. Oddly, the front passenger was blowing fairly cold, the driver side was hot, some of the rears were hot/cold, the fan speed worked but not correctly. The dealer said my spec has 2 separate units in it, it's a LWB.

URGHHH...I would personally report the service rep who told you to talk to your salesman about how to operate the system. That is total BS! Unbelievable...
I am thinking that something in the system has a bad sensor preventing the refrigerant from pushing thru the AC hoses all the way to the vents. Could it be an obstruction of some sort? Can the heat wave we are having has anything to do with it? Wonder also about why the bad odor...You would think that this time and age they would have the AC system 100% reliable. Good luck and keep us posted.
