I really don’t understand how the Velar could have outscored the SV long wheel base. How could the acceleration on the Velar be significantly better?

 

Yeah, crazy, the LWB SV is still supposed to be 4.5 to 60. The Velar SVAB was 4.3, and I don't know if it even had launch control!

 

I like Doug’s reviews generally, but I will note that he didn’t mention the interior armrest as a quirk or feature.

 

With regard to what? The ceramic controls?

A reviewer should compare a SWB SE and the LWB SV to see if the SV is really worth 2.5 times the price

My problem with the new RR is the door handles. I like mine because when locked, I can grab the handle, it unlocks itself and opens the door. With these recessed handles, do you have to use your key fob to get the handle to pop out and then open the door? That seems like a step backwards to me, and would annoy me every time I opened the door. That might seem like a minor thing, but I wouldn't want a new car that p*ssed me off every time I went to drive it.

I am not sure about other models but the Autobiography pops out as you approach the vehicle if you have the keys on you. Even if you put the key in your pocket but within range the driver door handle will pop.

 

If I was in the market for a $200k+ SUV it would be a Bentley not a Range Rover no matter how nice.

A year? You must have put the deposit down before they released it. We weren't asked to put deposit - but in October when they released the car to the public I got on a list and then officially send in my build. Then the dealership sent me back a build sheet to sign and confirm on March 15th. That was the last of the news. My build hasn't moved since that point.

 

No desposit- I've bought both a new L322 and a new L405 from this dealer so we have had a good history. I first ordered a new 2022 (L405) in May 2021 to replace my current L405, and a few months after I had ordered it my SA said that they weren't building them anymore, but they had started taking orders for the L460 as a 2022 1/2 model (this was in November 2021). So I put in an order for one of those and bought an extended warranty for my L405 to hold me over till the L460 arrived. This past February I was told no more 2022 1/2 because that they had moved on to the 2023 model year on the L460. So I ordered one of those (with the price increase). This past May was told I needed to switch from an SV color (Constellation) to a regular paint (Porotfino) because they were no longer offering SV colors on non-SV models. Now there is the issue with V-8 availability as well as LWB AUTO availability. I think JLR is the problem with the information they have been releasing (or not releasing) to the public or to their dealers. I'll wait a while longer to see how it plays out. And after all of this I still don't have an allocation. I had no reliability issues with my first two full size rovers and was looking forward to the L460, but I'm having a big problem with JLR treatment of repeat buyers of a $170K car. No one "needs" a car this expensive, and if I can't get what I really want at this price, my option will be to lower my expectations and get something far less expensive and just think of it as basic transportation.

 

If same as Velar, the handle has a small rectangular button that you press lightly with a finger and the full handle pops out.

 

I just noticed the window switches aren't on top of the door panel anymore, but are on the armrests. I kind of like them up there, it's quirky and showed a respect for tradition. Oh, well.
