Hello,

I searched through the forum and I'm not finiding my exact issue. Most previous issues that I've seen are that the complete screen goes blank, but in my case everything is fully functioning with the exception of the map itself?! I've tried zooming in and out and again, all function seems to be working except there is no navigation map shown. Here's a picture. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you reviewed the picture or not, but you can see that on the touch screen still shows many options for me to push/enter. I can enter an address, go to the nav menu, return to the previous screen, change view, etc. The touchscreen function is completely intact. No issues with the display in all other modes, radio, phone, home, etc so no connection issues and no failed display.

Again, only the map is blank/black. All other function remains.

Since your screen is working maybe it's the nav dvd player. My 09 has the DVD player under the (left) driver's seat used for the navigation system. Maybe a plug got dislodged from the back, or maybe the dvd got accidentally ejected. You can see the plugs looking under from the back seat. To see the front of the DVD player you have to pop off the black plastic panel under the seat. There are 4 clips and mine took a good tug to get it off. There is a lock/unlock slider on the front of the DVD player and an eject button. This is not for the entertainment system.

on 2010-2013 I believe the map graphics come from the navigation unit to the head as a digital video (MIPI) signal. It seems this signal is missing.
I would first check the nav unit and back of the head unit for loose/dirty connectors.
Did anyone work on the truck recently and may have damaged the wiring carrying the MIPI signal?
If not my next guess would be that your nav unit might not actually be sending the MIPI signal anymore, suggesting a faulty nav unit.

Right on. You may want to check for a blown fuse also, since no power to the dvd unit gives that message.

On another note, I have been to Cadiz. I went to Jerez a few years ago to watch the MotoGP and took a day and wandered around Cadiz, and walked out to the old castle looking fort that sits out on the point, and reveals channels cut into the coral when the tide goes out. A very beautiful place!

So, no DVD player under the seat. I checked online and the update for the newer maps is on a usb so that tells me there isn’t one. Does anyone know where the Nav system is located in the 2013? Is there somewhere else I can check for loose connections? I plan on checking the fuse for the nav...once I figure out where and which one.

Thanks

Just adding into this thread, I found the same issue today on my 2014 L405 (53k miles) which is now sold and en route to a good friend so a concern. I tried everything on the display I could change but to no avail: fully functioning Satnav, route guidance, scale chaging etc...just simply with no map "underneath" the functionality buttons and display, exactly as per the first photo above. As with all things JLR (and Italian to be fair), magical off/on CTRL+ALT+DELETE was my first port of call but to no avail. Forensic reconstruction followed...
a) I'd dropped the car to access mode to load an eBay sourced spare wheel for the new L460 (cancelled order overhang and folk deciding not to tick that "option" who've evidently never used goo and a compressor).
b) I'd set off slowly across a private forecourt but the car was subsequently still held in access mode and the SatNav still set to the present destination.
c) I'd put the car back up to normal height manually to roll over forecourt speed restrictors and reprogrammed the SatNav with my return postcode while doing so.
d) While my wife may have temporarily recanted her point that men can't multi-task, it seems JLR didn't: the SatNav map never came up.

So after 70 miles back on Waze (much better anyway TBH but not the point here :) ) pressing buttons galore I double locked the car, re-entered with JLR's ingenious relay theft helper fob and with the SatNav on, I retraced my steps...dropped to access height, raised to normal, raised to off-road for fun, dropped back to normal, then turned the car and thus SatNav off and on. Like a rabbit out of the hat the map re-appeared but I've no real idea which of the previous steps (if any) did the trick.

I'm obviously not counting this as a success and will explain everything to the new owner while underwriting the fix under the adage of "never upset your Surgeon." I'll report back if it goes again with the new owner, or not if it doesn't. I did go back out an hour later to re-check before writing this and so fully expect the map to disappear again the second I do, but in the interest of community spirit (these forums are especially helpful to owners) I pressed the post button anyway.

I have been looking for a solution to this exact problem with my 2013 L405. After taking some brave pills i thought i'd take the head unit out and see if there was a loose / dirty connection behind it. There are some good videos on youtube how to do it but after removing mine, looking blankly at it thinking i have no idea what this is, then putting it back in (I unplugged all the wires, they are colour coded so can't get them wrong) and plugging it back in (power cable last). Turned the ignition on and my maps are back!

I did find another temporary solution for this problem, if you press and hold the valet button on the home screen (top left)for about 10 seconds the system enters diagnostic mode, if you then tap the button labelled “video” the screen goes blank, after that I pressed the Home key on the left hand Hard button panel to take me back to the Home Screen, then into navigation and miraculously the maps reappeared, this would suggest it is not a connector problem.
Not a solution but a usable workaround while on the move!
