Just spent the last 4 hours putting in something that with most other trucks, is already installed. I can see maybe having to install a trailer connector (since you may have specific needs), and then attaching to a pre-installed plug under the truck, but this is ridiculous.

The instructions are just hieroglyphics. Once I got started, I kept realizing I had to take off more parts. I feel like I can work an assembly line now.

Yeah, I agree. Many trucks come prewired... and the self-vaunted hitch removable hitch mechanism is an insult to practicality. Much like the several other areas of design failure, these things are forgiven by us fanboys in lieu of the places where they got it right.
All that said, you had to go way, way further with your install than I did for my 2006. Took me about 45 min without removing the bumper, etc...

you had some Golly Gee Whizz directions. you can do that job by peeling back the side carpet and removing taillight and dropping spare tire..and you are done. Mine fried on the exhaust and shorted (garbage design by LR) and hard wired it into my tail lights by figuring out voltage.
On the 2010/2011 models, the bumper cover must be dropped. There is a sensor at the backside of the bumper frame requiring connection, and the original harness ran across the top of the steel frame, but under the plastic bumper supports. Not even visible from the spare tire side.

The kit itself was designed well enough for this application, as all the press-clips were properly spaced for each attachment hole in the frame, plastic supports and sheet metal. There was nothing which came remotely close to the exhaust, or the little dampener weights at the rear.

I took of the entire inside panel out because I didn't like twist I was seeing toward the smaller end at the seats. Good thing too, because wrestling out the wires out and in required considerable amount of body position to avoid disturbing all the sound proofing material.

The bumper cover removal isn't that difficult. Inside the wheel well, you need to pay attention to how the tabs overlays with the wheel well itself. Be carefull not to bend it too much. The cover unsnaps from the qtr panel edge. Put some blue 3M paint mask tape for protection.

The rest of the connectors are straightforward (per instructions).

Just as a housekeeping note, the User Manual link in the sticky was busted. Rather than repair it I combined it all under the Topix link.

On another note. AwfAxis, what's Reno like with that Rim Fire--someone told me today they passed near there and it was quite smoky making the sky look like Mars. Hope that does not get much worse out there. A lot of acres on fire right now.

The entire Reno/Sparks area is covered in smoke. Especially for the last couple of days and it looks like its getting worse. I was at the Safeway just down the street from where i live and it seems most of the residents in the area are starting to wear masks when they are outside. Air Quality level has been listed as "unhealthy for sensitive groups" for over a week now and it hasn't changed. So far news channels are saying they only have 5% of the fire contained and the fire already burned through 126,000 acres. Here is a before and after pic of what Reno looks like.

Hey guys.. new here. Just installed a OEM towing wiring harness on my (new to me) 2010 range rover sport supercharged. Install was way more annoying than i figured it would be...

Now when I turn on my right blinker (with no trailer connected) the trailer light on the dash blinks with the right arrow indicator AND my reverse lights flash as well. Is this because I need to have a Land Rover Dealer use a computer to "turn on" the towing feature? Did I install something wrong?? Kind of freaking out right now... hope I didn't mess something up.

Thanks,
Grant
