A couple of things - we did not make an exhaust for the previous gen SVR, because the OEM Titanium back boxes are super quality and as close to straight through as you can get, when the valves are open. We do offer Sport cat downpipes which crank up the volume quite a bit, but also require an ECU Tune:

Depending on whether the GPF is monitored or not (to the best of my knowledge some are not) this is a direct fit option along with our ECU Tuning. We'll be developing something for the GPF monitored versions as well.

Further to that, if there's interest in doing something like a Titanium muffler delete, we'd strongly consider that if there is enough interest. Perhaps a group buy? We'd need OEM parts to work from, (ideally a vehicle in our shop in BC) but can work from parts as well.

 

cheapest mod would be to replace the resonator & centre silencer with straight pipes - the two boxes between items 5 & 6 in post 43 above.

When cuising it's a touch louder, but not so that you'd notice, especially if you have music playing.

It's very loud on startup and when you accelerate hard and also when you shift down - lots of pops & crackle.

HI Sam, I have had the muffler delete carried out by Urban & the dealership unplugged my valves. It still isn't loud enough so i am booked-in with Myriad Automotive on Friday to have their backbox chamber modification. They have advised that this is the last (sensible) resort. The insensible resort is to replace both rear boxes with straight pipes but this is very likely to result in Drone! I also feel that any aftermarket system (Quicksilver etc) will drone with the valves open.

 

Just an update guys - I worked with Sam & Akil at Myriad Automotive to achieve the best sound for my 2019 SVR. Brilliant guys to deal with, we went through a fair amount of R&D - X-pipe, Straight pipe, H-pipe, backbox mod. The guys were excellent to work with and we got to the perfect sounding setup (IMO) with zero drone = backbox mod and H-pipe. 5 stars to Myriad. Anyone local to Birmingham UK is welcome to come over and hear my car.

Sound is subjective, not a lot of difference but I decided to do some R&D and paid for both. H-pipe was fitted last & I slightly preferred it so I decided to keep it on the car. Both options give a nice growl, the centre muffler is completely removed so naturally the car is considerably louder - certainly up there with the old SVR & i have driven both. The beauty of this mod is that there is zero drone (unlike the Quicksilver) even with valves open cruising on the motorway at 2,000 RPM. The X-pipe i have is beautiful, quality stainless steel. I am happy to let it go for £250. The sound isn't crazy loud - its just right.

 

Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to post the videos. Interesting, there is a subtle difference between the two. I preferred the H pipe as well. Maybe a hint less raspy to my ear.

it is certainly a subjective subject.

 

Ever since my full engine replacement last January I've noticed my exhaust on my 14.5' RR Sport is **** loud, crackles and pops on downshifts, and under load accelerating upshifting as well. The aggressiveness at idle with the windows and sunroof down brings the warm and fuzzy feeling/smile to me as well. I notice zero drone. Mine sounds very much like a local 16' SVR who's owner I talked to at a red light confirming he had a matte blue 16' model. When both of us were running up to 50-60mph under medium acceleration from that stoplight I couldn't tell one exhaust note from the other his or mine they were that similar. We also were driving in "Dynamic Mode" upshifting and downshifting gears manually for several miles both before and after the friendly red light chat.

I'm happy and can certainly see how someone would want that same kind of sound characteristic/note. I wonder if someone that has a 19.5 could order and plug n' play install the key difference/pieces from OEM exhaust pieces for a 14, 15, or 16 for simplicity and/or cost sake??? I'd be willing to take some nice pictures of my stock exhaust for comparison later today.

I'll try and get a sound byte of exactly what I'm talking about later today as the neighbors will b!tc# if I do it before noon I'm afraid...

 

Really don't like the exhaust tips on the QS exhaust, the square tips on the SVR starting in 2018 are much more modern and aggressive IMO.

 

Hello all. I have just purchased a 2021 SVR Carbon edition US Spec, in British Racing Green. This car is a beast. Have upgraded to bronze Vossen rims, which suit the car well. Anyway, the exhaust is no longer doing it for me. What is the best exhaust system I can do? I will not do quicksilver as a buddy of mine has it and it drones like crazy. Any other options. Thank you for your help in advance!

I use the highway everyday so I keep the valves closed. It’s loud enough with the valves closed.

Just purchased a new 2021 SVR and wondering from above what the best exhaust modifications are going to be.

I don't have a 19, 16, but considered doing the center res delete; haven't decided if I want to go straight pipe connections or a X-Pipe. With that said, if I wanted to go X-Pipe, what is the inside diameter of the pipe so that if I do go that route I can order the X-Pipe connection in advance (read that some say 2" and some say 2.25 but 1 person said 2.5 so IDK)?

I'll be home in a couple weeks and can measure then, just deciding if I want to pre-order the X-Pipe or not.

Whatever you did Tuscani66 to your SVR's Exhaust... I can Vouch from direct first hand experience that it's the "MEANEST" sounding Rover I've ever heard in my life. When I asked you to let her rip a few times at my house for a "Rover Maintenance Day" the sound with a symphony of blissful growl, rumble, and back-pops that any Supercar would be worthy/proud of...

Hi all, thought due to the detail on the previous pages it would be best to continue...
Does anyone know if the "Urban Exhaust Modification" for SVR 19/20/21 is simply a X-Pipe in place of the centre resonator? I was going to drive down to have their modification done (7 hours drive each way - fortune in petrol and mileage).

If it's just a x-pipe then I figured I'm better simply buying one from Ebay and getting my mechanic to fit it.

Am I missing something?

Probably not, seems like a common approach as the back box on the SVR is pretty nice already. I had a custom exhaust shop build me an xpipe with something like this: Tru-X Universal Pipe - 2.25 inch Inlet/Outlet | MagnaFlow and it was just a few hundred bucks with install. I want to say its 2.25inch but not sure

Ive had 3 RRS SC..on my first 17SVR now..Havent done the exhaust mod yet but plan on it soon.. I learned the hard way the first time about droning with my 12 SC but then my 17 SC I did right and its perfect tone with no drone.. always leave the rear mufflers.. upgrade the tips if you want but leave the mufflers.. delete the second resonator with an xpipe or straight pipe or H pipe and thats all you need and it doesn’t break the bank.

 

What did he end up doing?

 

I don't know as I'm going to have to call him. I PM'd here but remember he got PLOWED about 2 months ago in his SVR. Totaled... So he probably isn't on this forum anymore. But I'll find out as he texted me a couple weeks ago and report back.

I know its an old post but just came across this whilst finding a solution for more sound. I just wanted to help out anyone who is looking for a bit more noise (I found that the sound was far better with X pipe as I now get crackles and pops in sports mode).

I have a bolt on X pipe fitted on my 19' SVR - So it is available, I had mine fitted by them at Myriad Automotive as I thought it made sense to have a professional fit the section on as apposed to a local garage. Still have the original single resonator box which can be fitted back using the same clamps, or so I was told. They also offer the Straight tube option for even more sound for around £450.00, but gave a disclaimer about small possibility off drone. In hindsight I should have just gone for straight tube (As I previously had a E63s, so always end up comparing sounds)

Hope this helps some else out, now I just need to work out what my best options are without shooting myself in the leg.

I'm curious what is the benefit in using an X-Pipe versus just a straight pipe to the Mufflers ?

The X/H smoothes out the pulses from each bank of the V8 - that's what I've been told anyway.

I would NOT remove the mufflers, that would be way too loud and maybe even drone too much at highway speeds.

 

Trust me. Do not do a straight pipe. I did it. Drove a few miles and went back to the shop. So much drone and loud. Doesn’t match the car and the power output. It was horrible. I will post pics later when I get the chance.

 

That's very strange, I've been running straight pipes since Nov 2018, no droning.

Yes, it's loud at startup and when you want it to be loud, but cruising on the highway is quiet.

It must be noted that I only removed the resonator and centre silencer, and kept the rear mufflers in place.
