hello, at speeds around 60miles/h and above I have a wind noise that seems to sound in the upper left area. I've read the forums and fixed the bottom windshield rubber with a butyl tape. It is now fixed to the windshield. I also filled the gaps at the top of the windshield with silicone (at the extreme right/left, just below the black rubber next to the pillars). But the noise keeps coming. Does anyone know what else might be causing it? all seems sealed well. It is driving me crazy. Thanks

Check that the sunroof glass is flush with the roof, sometimes they raise up a little bit magically on their own and don't seal well. You can try recalibrating it by tilting it open, then pushing the button so it slides back all the way, then hold the forward button until it slides forward and closes and then hold the forward button for 20 seconds longer. The roof will click a couple of times and you can let go. If that doesn't work you may need to loosen the glass in the brackets and realign it.

Of course you should check that your front door glass goes all the way up and it tight in the gasket first.

Hi Mark, thanks for the advise. I checked the sunroof and seems fine. Front door glass seems to go all the way up. The windscreen rubber is well adjusted at both the top and bottom.
The only point I can think of where the sound of air comes in is the upper rubber of the front doors. Also in the rubber that fits with the front pillars. I have recorded a video (I leave the link) where you can see that at the bottom of the pillar the rubber is a little more separated than at the top. I don't know if this happens only in my car and it's a defect or if it's the same in all cars.
I assume it is not normal that at speeds of about 60/70 miles per hour you hear a whistle of the wind. In a car of these characteristics should go in complete silence but if I make a mistake please tell me.
Thank you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVeFAOdCERY

One trick we used to use on the Jag X350's side mirror seal, was to cover the door seal with painters tape one door at a time and take it for a ride. This is also how I confirmed my lower windscreen seal noise on the L322. If it is leaking air, it will stop the whistle or at least change the pitch. I was at a garage one time with a Ferrari with what looked like a whole roll of tape on every door and glass until they found the air leak. Yes you can fix a ferrari with masking tape.
Wind whistle in a car is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I sometimes get a strange wind/humming sound from the left hand passenger (UK car) side of my RR when travelling at around 70 mph, it only seems to happen if its a windy day. i would say the sound comes from the area near the bottom of the windshield. This is a new thing since i removed and refitted the dash board due to my other issues.

That noise is probably the rubber trim plate on the outside of the windsheild under the wipers. The top lip of that is supposed to have an adhesive strip along the top edge to seal it to the glass, but it deteriorates over time. You can peel back to top lip and run a THIN bead of butyl rubber (silicone will do in a pinch) along the top edge (under the trim piece) and then use a piece of painters tape to hold it down tight to the glass until it sets. The other location is the rubber gaskets where the cabin filter housing mates up to the outside air vents in the HVAC unit. If you have taken that filter housing out to gain access to the back center of the engine area theres a chance one of the two gaskets going into the HVAC unit inside the truck could get dislodged. I do't think that makes a humming noise though, its more of a whistle, and it comes from the center of the dash area.

Hi Mark, thank you very much for the comments. I've already used the idea of butyl to attach the rubber to the windshield. I read that idea in the forum, maybe it was yours too. The rubber is fixed but the same sound continues. I've also fixed the upper rubber. It just occurs to me that the door rubbers aren't close enough to the chassis when you close the door. This way at speeds of 60/70 miles per hour there is a sound that becomes louder as the speed increases. We can hear it from both the driver and the copilot, each on his own. I'm going to try to shoot a video with the sound. I have to use the adhesive tapes as you have suggested to me to check if it can be because of that. You gave me a second idea with the HVAT unit, but I didn't understand it at all (I don't know how to fix it). Thank you very much.

Is your AC on and in re-circ or auto? The vent flaps have a tendency to "moan" when closed as air passes through the seal. When the noise happens try turning off the re-circ/auto button.

Thanks. Seems pretty fixed. I just read that the 07 has a
wind noise around the driver's side A pillar/ mirror area. Do you hear the same at around 60/70 miles/h?? maybe it is just a normal issue in the model. thx (my care is a 2011 SC)

Mine was doing the same thing. I got some rubber window screen spline and used a plastic trim tool to insert it under the existing rubber door trim to bolster it up. Solved the problem right away. Not sure if yours is the same issue.

Cool, How to do that where to start? Could you please describe the steps to perform so that I can try? Many thanks

Check @MARK_C post above, that will cover most wind noises. Before going down the path of wedging window stripping in your door seals, if you are confident that is where the noise is coming from, try using silicone spray on the seals to make them more pliable and seal better. Also check that mirrors and A-pillar trim are firmly attached, not missing fasteners.

If that doesn't do it it, this would be the troubleshooting flowchart I would use:
1) When you hear the wind noise, change the A/C recirculate setting and see if that changes it. There is a kit to fix that which is nothing more than thick rubber tape to put on hvac flap
2) put tape on lower windshield cowl where it meets the windshield to rule that out
3) put tape on a-pillar edges where they connect to the windshield to rule that out
4) put tape on upper portion of windshield where it meets the body
4) put tape around sunroof
5) put tape around front driver and passenger side window edges.
6) Go nuts and tape around entire front doors to the body.
