First off, I know that the correct bulb is the 194/2825/W5W size, and I've searched and found no answer to this particular question. Anyways, LED's in this bulb type come in several sizes. This size is no larger than stock and will definitely work: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/2825-W5W-Error-Free-LED-Bulbs-Parking-Lights-p/led_error_free_t10_sku27.htm

This size is slightly larger, so I'm wondering if it will still fit and provide better light output:

A forum member bought iJDM bulbs (and was very satisfied) but never posted which bulbs he/she purchased unfortunately. Thanks for any help!

Hey there,

I replaced my LIC. Plate bulbs with ones from http://www.eAutoWorks.com. They're okay but seem a bit dim. Are the ones you got from V-LEDs decently "bright"? For example, mine project a nice "white" LED glow but it looks more like two mini spot lights as they don't really light up the entire surface area of the plate. I'm hoping yours are brighter/better!

P.S.
Can anyone recommend a decent/bright LED back-up LED bulb? For those that have done this, do you get an error message/bulb-out warning?

The other member that bought the iJDM bulbs posted that they were very bright, and they don't have the error/bulb-out warning because they have built-in CANBUS resistors. In my M3, I actually put HID's in the reverse lights (I'll have to find the kit online again). They are amazingly bright, which helps with a really dark tint. I have no idea what the space behind the RRS taillights looks like, but the M3 has a spot that looks like it's meant for an HID ballast. If you want bright, that's the way to go, and I bought a really nice kit that didn't have the bulb warm up and start up issues that some kits have.

Anyways, it would definitely be bright enough on the license plates if you could fit the bigger of the two LEDs I posted.

The ones I got are pretty bright and illuminate a pretty big pattern on the ground below the license plate. No errors. I would try to get these bulbs as the license plate bulbs for our RRS's are mounted at an angle.

Solid advice - I think I'm going to get the first ones I posted (no downward facing LEDs), since the ones you just posted mentioned nothing about resistors to stop bulb-out warnings.

I just did the license plate lights and they look good. Did you replace your puddle lights as well i.e. the ones under the mirrors? If so I'd like to know how to get them out. They are next then I think I'll do all the interior ones as well.

I did all the interior lights but I did not change the puddle lights under the mirrors as my 2010 came with white LEDs OEM.

Tried to get a pic for you, but I can't edit out my license plate # while still giving you an idea of how the lights look - sorry...

Perhaps you can take off plate and snap a quick pic? Thnx
;) ....and while you're at it whip up a batch of toll houses, a little under done I like them chewy.

Keiphers, i'd talk to Jazejeff about all things LED, I've been super satisfied with all the LEDs I've bought from him.

went with keiph's recommendation and just self-installed (a proud moment for me) the JDM LEDs. it's the perfect brightness, looks completely factory and matches the side mirror puddles lights well. i like them a lot better than i thought! makes the rear look really fresh and clean.

big thanks to him for finding these on the net and showing us how it's done. :)
