Re: Where no Range ROver should ever have to go

Went through that last year with the wife's car, give's ya a kinda sick feelin in the pit of your stomach when your head finally tell's you to call a tow truck, and there's no goin around it. Sorry to here what kind of day you had but at least you found the problem. That's gotta feel kinda good. When these thing's happen to me I like to think ahead to the first test run when you've got everything put right again. Good luck, tilt a few back and try to forget today is my advice. Big-T. :crybaby2: :crybaby2: :( :(

Re: Where no Range ROver should ever have to go

Hey, Big-T here, I was lookin at your rig again cause it's identical to mine but your tires look fatter than mine. What size are they?, they look awesome and I've started the fund for the next set down the road. Have you got any rubbin problems when you turn tight or did you just put them on the stock wheels? :thumb:

Sounds like you should have started at the bottom end and worked your way up. Crankshaft bearing job, comin up.

Have you pulled the Crank Shaft out? A slipped bearing could overlap and cause your problem. I wouldn't leave it to finding metal bits on the magnet. Have you pulled the oil pan off, if so I missed that, sorry.

Sorry, I didn't notice your post from the other day stating that you have indeed pulled the sump off. Have you pulled the main caps off? An engine with 160k would slowly wear the mains down to where they would slip and overlap. That's what I would be doing if I was you at this point, doesn't take long, and tells you a lot about the wear on your bearings. Connecting rod bearings? Piston knuckels? End bearings? Easy to take out and inspect, and if they're good, re-install them. While you have the connecting rod disconnected you could check and see for free piston movement. What the hell, you've already pulled the pan off, you might as well. How 'bout some pictures of what you've done so far?

I still think it is something really stupid and simple... :?
That's usually what I've found on these rigs, they don't follow the rules of logic. Every fix I've had on mine so far is simple and stupid and thank God, cheap, hope you don't have to go too much further to find it. Good luck, can't wait to hear what it was. I really hate it when my toy sits in the garage and mocks me, much prefer driving it every day. Big-T.
