Is that an open nipple right above your top knuckle in the first photo? Also of interest, is that a split in the hose at the lower clamp in picture?

I am not currently near my car to check this but I suspect that pipe attaches to the air filter housing cover. But wouldn't think that it would cause your problems.

However a split turbo hose as pointed out by RRToadHall would.

Brilliant yes that's the one, thanks for the info much appreciated, I will check the hoses, I did put some silicone sealant over the split, as a temp measure but the fault persists, whats the best thing to use as a temp measure until I can get the new hoses? I am guessing its better t replace both left and right?

Thank you so much for the help, I have put it where it belongs on the box, and done a temp repair with some bicycle inner tube patches from a puncture repair kit using superglue over the split, then taped htat with duck tape, as a temporary fix until I can replace the part.

Once again very grateful for your assistance

Dave
