Depends on if you want to save the old ones. If they are to be scrapped just pop a screw drive into the middle of them and pop them out. If you want to save them it's best to remove the rims and pop them from the back side to avoid any damamge.

The old ones are not in real bad shape so I would like to save them for spares...I just don't want to have to go through the trouble of taking the wheels off just to remove the caps.

If you have nylon screwdrives/pry levers there is a slim chance of getting under a lip to get them out, but very slim. To me it would not be worth damaging the rim to save the removal time. Removing the rims also give you a chance to clean up the backs of the rims, brakes and wheel wells.

Put a couple of spots of silicone rubber on the new ones so they don't fall out.

Too late for that...I already put the new caps on right away but they fit pretty snug so I don't think they will fall out...I'll keep the silicone in mind for the next time I have the wheels off...Thanks!

Dunno about Sport rims but the caps certainly get lost from P38A rims. :(
