I have had my DSE for 5 years and not had much trouble with it and i thought i knew it inside out , anyway going out tonight the road was wet and i went to wash the screen and i got the message telling me my windscreen washer was low, i wash the sceen again and the wipers only sweeped the screen once, and again one wipe when i washed the screen, stopped for deisel and filled the washer and now the wipers sweep the screen 3 times again when i operate the washers, now am i missing something here :? , is this normal, never noticed this before

I never thought of it, but mine only wipes once too. And it gives me the low fluid warning every time I shut her off.

Mine used to give the warning when it was full too, I was going to replace the sensor. Then it quit doing it so I left well enough alone
When i use the washers the wipers go three times after I release the button.

mine does exactly the same just accepted that the becm was doing it's job afterall not much point wiping the windows when there's little or no water on the windscreen
It's perfectly normal, my Dse did that as well.
The most annoying thing was that the low screenwash alert comes on when there is still a third if a bottle on there....

It takes more looking after than the wife, well its paid more attension, you know a duster around the suspension ect after every run, dont use it much, about 500 miles a year .

Thankyou for your replies about the wipers i have never noticed this before

I had the same thing. Replaced the sensor at the washer bottle and now everything's fine. As an added bonus now I got the headlamp washers/wipers working again. According to the previous owner's records, this has been going on from 2003, so I was really surprised that after 7 years of inactivity the headlamp washers/wipers actually worked.

The one sweep on low washer fluid level is normal, think it describes this in the handbook. Helps prevent wearing wipers or scratching the screen with no water to lubricate :)
